Two Under 2

not enough time...

Anyone else feel like there is not enough time to spend with either child?

I have a 1 month old and a 22 month old and I do not feel like I spend enough quality time with either never mind all the housework there is to do.  I feel like I am always doing laundry, washing dishes/bottles or feeding/cooking.  I still have thank you cards to write, announcements to get out, christening invites, and a birthday party to plan...ugh.  I would do this after they are both asleep, but my older one goes down at 8ish and he still gets rocked/cuddled to sleep and the little one most of the time eats every 2 hours between 6 and 11 and goes to sleep between 11 and 12.

I guess I am feeling a little overwhelmed today...can you tell? lol

Thanks for listening....

Oh and my dh was home all weekend....napping and feeding the newborn while I did all the chores...you can imagine how happy our house is this weekend...lol

  • My DS is 8 weeks, DD is 15 months. I haven't seen any light at the end of the tunnel yet, but these ladies assure me there is one. Personally, I let some of the cleaning go to enjoy my babies. I wouldn't let you in my house ATM, but I plan on cleaning tonight. Lol. I think it will all fall into place soon. I just want to enjoy my kids a bit.

    This.

For starters, sometimes the housework just has to get put on the back burner.

DD is 5.5 months & I feel my ability to spend quality time with each just keep improving each month. Now that she is bigger, DS seems to understand her more & now sees she is like...a real person, lol.

Plus, I can now play with both of them at the same time. I have DD's jumper in DS' room so we can all have fun together.

I hate those rough days. Deep breath- it DOES get better! Smile

  • Thanks for the encouragement and support.  Today is a much better day....we will see what tomorrow brings...lol
  • I totally felt like that when #2 was that age. It definitely gets much easier as the younger hild gets older and more independent. Also when they are less fragile, and you don't have to worry as much about the older child hurting the younger one, you can more easily spend time with both of them. And when the baby really starts starts getting interactive, the kids will entertain each other and you might get a moment to yourself!

I know it doesn't seem like it will get easier any time soon, but hang in there! My youngest is 9 months and it already is soooo much easier than I ever dreamed it would be, say, six months ago.
