How are your kiddos doing with naps? Mine seems to get all her sleep in half of the day, and awake for the other half (none of which coincide with DD#1's nap)
LO turned 2 months on Sunday
Sleeps from 9pm to 6am, nurses and gets formula , then sleeps to 10/11am-ish. She's up from then on, maybe gets a 30-45 minute nap around 4ish. I try a few times to get her to nap in the early PM, but doesn't always work. I try to go off her cues (yawning, etc), but doesn't always work.
Loving the long stretch of sleep she is getting, but hey, if we can get a good afternoon nap instead of all morning, that would be great too! ![]()
Re: What is your 2 month old's sleep schedule?
it's not really a schedule, but on her best days, DD usually wakes up between 7 and 8, eats, diaper change, and is up for only 45mins-1 hour, then back to sleep for her longest nap of the day (1.5-2 hours), then she's up, she nurses, we change diaper, clothes and play for around 1-1.5 hours, then back to sleep for around an hour.
The afternoon is where it gets sketchy. She clearly needs to nap around 3pm, but usually fights me until about 3:30 or later. That one is usually a shorter nap of around 45 minutes, then up again to play some more. around 5:30 I try to get her to sleep for a bit so she's rested when DH gets home to do bath and her wind-down playing (sometimes a book, sometimes just sitting in the glider talking) and then bed between 7 and 8.
If it helps, I've read that at this age their maximum awake time is usually around 2 hours at the most.

He's not so great with naps.
He gets up for the day around 6 or 7. I can sometimes get a nap out of him around 9 or 10, for 30-45 minutes. He takes cat naps throughout the day, but rarely long ones. Sometimes he'll take a long nap right around lunchtime, but it's rare.
He goes to bed for the night around 8 and wakes up to eat at 11, 2, 5 and then (as I said before) is up for the day at 6 or 7.
OK, this post makes me want to cry. My son is seven weeks and is up ALL night every night. He is breastfed, so he eats every two hours (sometimes one hour) and there is no way to get him down between feedings. I usually walk the floors all night while he stares at me w eyes wide open. I've tried rocking, swaddling, putting him in my bed.
During the day he naps on and off between feedings every two hours...no real schedule.
Please share how you got you baby in a routine. Pleeease.
Joogle, I don't think you can really schedule a 2 month old. They are going to eat and sleep when they need to. Your guy is probably still going through his growth spurt and on the other side of that he may eat less frequently and give you longer stretches of sleep.
Mine was 7 weeks yesterday and while she now doesn't need to nurse in the middle of the night she is up with gas for about 2 hours, which apparently is commen for 6-8 week olds.
Just hang in there and he will naturally stretch out his feedings. I am sure you are exhausted right now
As for being awake at night, do you make sure not to talk to him or stimulate him at night? Have you tried swaddling and white noise? What happens when you put him down in his crib? How are his sleep habits during the day?
I would try and keep him up maybe from 8-10 pm or so and then start the process of trying to get him to sleep, maybe go for a short walk or car ride, give him a bath etc. If I can keep DD up from 8-10 then I can get her to sleep a 6 to 7 hour stretch only semiwaking with gas (I just put her paci back in and rub her belly).
I apparently had my days and nights mixed up when I was an infant and my mom had to switch me around incrementally. But if you can keep him up for 1.5 - 2 hours before bedtime and then start the process of making him sleepy I think you are better off than trying to keep him up for 5 hours b/c he will become overtired and then you might be SOL.
