What's the best spit-up formula?

Right now we are using Enfamil AR and DS is still spitting up more than I think he should be. I'm considering trying a different spit-up formula (even though I haven't seen many out there) and am curious about which one others have had good luck with.

Re: What's the best spit-up formula?

  • We tried Enfamil Gentlease and Nutramigen before finding "Baby's Only Organic Lactose-Free", and it is *awesome*.

You have to order it online or get it from a natural food grocery store like Earth Fare. We order it online by the case. It works out to about $14 a can.

  • We use Gerber Good Start Gentle and LOVE it. It's not lactose free, which I like because the lactose free formulas are full of much more sugar. And babies are rarely actually truly lactose free. The Good Start is made with Whey proteins instead of the Caseine (sp?) proteins like all other formulas. Whey proteins are easier to digest. Keep doing your research...I spent tons of time doing this in the beginning when trying to find a good option for DD. We had switched to Similac Sensitive which worked fine but I hated the ingredients and that's what sparked us to change and end up with Good Start Gentle.
  • I heard Targets UP&Up brand is really good,

Some babies truly are, though, so if your LO needs a lactose-free formula (OP), Baby's Only is a great choice. It uses a complex carb (organic brown rice syrup) instead of high fructose corn syrup or other simple sugars.

  • I was thinking about trying this formula, I'm glad it works for you!
  • After trying Enfamil Newborn, Enfamil Lipil, and Similac Sensative we found that Good Start Gentle worked wonders for us.  He still spits up some, but not like he did with the others.  Also, back when we were in that fussy newborn stage, Good Start Gentle seemed to make him less fussy too.  There will never be a formula that prevents all babies from spitting up and being fussy, but you'll just have to keep tying to find the one that works best for your little one.  GL!
