I know I am still early but I also know a lot of these places have waiting lists.
I have no idea where to start. google spits out A LOT of places and some of them do not accept infants.
Do you have any suggestions for nanny care or daycares/schools with a price estimate?
thanks.
Re: infant care ITL suggestions
Kipling Street Academy off of Kipling and Shepherd. It was ~$950 for an infant 4 years ago. I am sure it has gone up a couple hundred by now.

I live ITL as well and whatever you do, do NOT got to montessori country day school.... I had a tour there and within the first 5 minutes of talking with the woman in admissions she had no idea what tummy-time was and she also said the infants take naps on the ground, on mats.
But I have put DS on the waiting lists for Esperanza School (really loved it), Kipling Academy (loved it and as pp said it is $1200/month), and a few others. those were my top choices so hopefully one will work out.
Just as an FYI, Montessori schools do not use cribs. In a Montessori based home, children sleep on a mattress or palette on the floor from a very young age. While this isn't for everyone, this is pretty basic for a M school. Here are some links on the how and why for ppl who might consider a Montessori program and would like to know more about this concept.

There is another daycare in the Heights called Gonzales on Rutland. It's not as fancy as Esperanza but I know several people who have their kids there and everyone is very happy with it. The staff has been there for a long time and they're very loving. It's probably 75% the cost of Esperanza.
You're welcome. Good luck and definitely get on the lists now!!
Thanks for posting that, it had some great information in it
And I am aware of how montessori schools work, but this particular one was really uninformed on several different subjects which left me feeling like I wanted to run away and never leave my baby there! I have found other montessori schools ITL that we liked, this one just didn't sit right with me...
Our son was at Avalon Academy until he was 15 months and we moved to a different part of town. DH and I liked the place and only had a few complaints. The teachers in the infant room were FABULOUS...Miss Alma and Miss Angela. DS loved them, even when he transitioned to another room when he started walking they told me he would always walk into the infant room to see them! I know its an older facility and they don't have the fanciest toys and not a ton of space in some of the rooms, but they took care of my child and I watched him learn and grow so much in those 15 months. I know that they do rotate teachers and some are more rough around the edges than others.
At the time we were paying 800 a month..not sure what the cost is know. Kipling at the time was also 1K a month...didn't know they got so $$$$.
I would also rec St. Andrews...I know the director and she runs a tight ship!!
That's incredibly strange that you had this experience. I personally know two women who taught there previously (they both moved out of state) and now the other SAH. I really can't believe that she didn't know what tummy time is. They (used to) have an incredibly long waiting list and most of the infants are doctor's children. My friends worked in the infant room.
Yeah, I think it's stnage, too. Perhaps it was because she was an Admissions person and not a teacher?
My younger son's caretaker was a Montessori infant teacher for 15 years at 2 highly coveted schools in the Heights area. She has nothing but the best things to say about MCC. Their Director is supposed to be really top notch and the teachers as well!
Of course, we all have to go with our gut and every school is not right for every family. If atlanticpacific had a gut feeling it wasn't for her child, I totally respect that but I would still suggest other families who read this check it out and decide for themselves.
Yeah, I actually was REALLY excited about it becauase they said they had a spot open for september which would've been absolutely amazingly perfect but I just couldn't get past the admissions director's lack of knowledge. I guess in my head I was thinking of course she isn't going to be completely knowledgable in every single area of infant care becuase that isn't her job, BUT she did not know the most basic of information which left me feeling scared and uncomfortable.
I do love the M school programs though, they are so loving and it is defnitely the right choice for our family.
And I wanted to thank you rayskit10 for all of your help when I posted awhile back about ITL infant care, it was very helpful.
