Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

OMG! DS Just Embarrassed Me at Target!

DS and I just went to Target to do some grocery shopping.  I usually try really hard to keep him in the shopping cart and away from the shelves because, you know, he's a toddler and likes to grab everything.  Well, today I had him in the shopping cart, and moved the cart to where it was close to the pasta sauce shelve and out of everyone's way.  DS grabbed a jar of pasta sauce and he dropped it.  It broke and pasta sauce went everywhere.  I had to go tell an employee and show them where it happened so they could clean it up.  I was so embarrassed that he did it..... of course he's not totally to blame because I should have known better and made sure he wasn't within reach of the jars :(

  • I dropped 2 baby food jars at BRU.  Don't feel bad!

  • I once turned the corner in the grocery store and banged my cart into a display of red wine bottles.....nuff said.

  • DS did that once with a gallon of milk. I was so embarrased too! I was holding him at checkout and I put the milk up on the counter and as soon as I turned around he grabbed it and pulled it off. It was awful and there was milk everywhere and all over me and DH! They acted like it was no big deal though which was good.

I'm not sure where you live, but this is either a very common thing or I was right behind you that day.  I got milk all over my shoes.  Crying  There's no crying over spilled milk though...right?

  • Meh, it happens.  I'll take a jar of sauce over the entire shelf of Waterford crystal goblets that I broke at Macy's once.  Anyday.

  • I would rather he break something than fart. Let me tell you that is embarrassing. They are so loud & stinky that people in the store give me dirty looks. They think it is me! I had one old lady tell me I should be ashamed of myself for blaming my kid. Except it really is him!

Haha!  This made me laugh out loud :)

One time my ILs and DH took DS to Ikea.  DS was still pretty little and had those liquidy pre-solid poops still.  FIL was holding him and they heard DS poop....turns out it was a diaper explosion, and FIL had poop all down his shirt.  I supposed that would be more embarrassing than a broken jar of pasta sauce :)

  • I had LO in an Italian deli with me a few weeks ago - the kind with the really expensive imported things. Well he took off on me and before I could get to him he picked up and smashed two expensive jars of olives.  It was a matter of about 10 seconds!  And of course I had to pay for them.  Very expensive trip.
  • My kid puked on the floor while sitting in the shopping cart one day at the grocery store. I think I may have kept walking, omg I am so bad.
  • I dropped and broke a jar of pickles in the grocery store when I was pregnant. I had to go to the front of the store to find anyone to tell. And of course I got the "haha a pregnant lady buying pickles" thing.
