Cloth Diapering

lanolizing for the first time

I have 7 pieces.  Can I do them all together in the bath tub or should I do one at a time?  They vary from sbish to etsy but all have been washed.  Any pointers for a first timer?  I am nervous.. I was thinking about lanozling them and then air drying and doing them again - is this a good idea?

Re: lanolizing for the first time

  • I'd do 2 at a time at most in a sink or small bucket

Why are you nervous? You're not going to ruin them by washing and lanolizing. You'll be fine. A lot of people lanolize 2x the first go around. Your approach sounds fine.

cause I am 37 weeks pregnant with my first and nervous about everything ;) you should have seen when I prepped my fitteds... Lord you would have thought I was personally in charge of washing Betsy Ross's original flag.. Thanks for the piece of mind.

  • I do up to 4 covers at a time in my kitchen sink on a regular basis (ah, twins). So I'd be very comfortable doing a batch of 4 and a batch of 3. The big thing to remember is it takes up to 48 hours for wool to dry, so be sure you have a place big enough to hold 7 covers while drying without being in your way. Mine have been ending up out on my patio furniture for some sun drying.
