Hotels at Disney

Any recs for hotels in Disney? Will have a 5YO and a 2YO (both girls). Does not HAVE to be on site as we will have a car. And we will be going for Thanksgiving so pools are not a must. Open to villas or houses as well as we have a bigger family. Thanks locals!!

Re: Hotels at Disney

  • Ive stayed here when not staying on property and they are very reasonable and have 1-4 bedrooms with full kitchens, great pool, etc..  And close to Disney.

They offer a FL discount rate as well.

We stayed there once and were very pleased with the facilities.  We all stayed in the 4 bedroom/4 bath (10 people) and didn't feel cramped.  It had 2 master suites, a full kitchen, dining room and small living area.  And in suite washing machine.  Downstairs, there is a bar/restaurant, a pizzaria, and convenient store.  It is also very close to the parks.  I think we paid like $350 for 3 days?!

  • 1. Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin - it's not a Disney owned hotel although the name is deceiving. It's decently priced, you can get some great discounts on stays here. Rooms are very spacious and comfortable, service was awesome. You get the benefits of being on site - magic hours, free parking when you drive to the parks, bus transportation to the parks. Plus, there is a ferry that takes you to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. By far our favorite.

    2. Caribe Royale - our 2nd favorite; we got a great rate for this hotel through expedia unpublished hotels. Very spacious rooms, clean, and friendly staff. Has transportation to the parks if you desire to use. Very close to the parks.

    3. Hilton Orlando Resort Lake Buena Vista - across from Downtown Disney so you can walk there. It's an "above average" hotel but not as comfortable as the first 2 I mentioned. We got complimentary continental breakfast which was very decent.

I second this.  We love the Dolphin and stay there everytime we go.  Love the extra hours, character breakfast, and ferry service.  The service is great and they really go out of their way every chance they get.  It doesn't have the huge feel of some of the other moderately priced disney resorts.  The last time we went we stayed at the Swan and didn't like it as much as the Dolphin (we thought there would be no difference, but there was, and it wasn't good).  Highly recommend the Dolphin - and it is normally cheaper than the Swan too!

  • What are magic hours? I'm looking at staung at the Hilton in Lake Buena Vista, but am looking at others, too.
  • From what I understand, Magic Hrs are extended hrs at the park offered to certain guests, depending on where you are staying, etc.

Magic hours are extended hours. The 4 Disney parks take turns having these hours. They will either be extra hours in the morning before the park opens (i.e. 8-9AM) or in the evening (i.e. 9pm-12AM). You can find the schedule on the Disney website to see which park has Magic Hours when. These are available to people who stay in Disney resorts, The Swan and Dolphin, and Hilton Lake Buena Vista. Not all rides in a specific park are open for the Magic Hours but usually the most sought out rides are a part of it, so it's worth it for those who want to take advantage of this.

The Hilton Lake Buena Vista was ok. It's the cheapest price to get the benefits of having a 4 star hotel, continental breakfast included, the Magic hours, bus transportation to the parks. Next time we go I would rather spend a bit more and go to the Swan and Dolphin but I would stay here again since it really has everything you need.
