November 2011 Moms

Oops :)

One of the nice things about expecting another boy when we already have a boy is that ALL the baby clothing I have can be reused.  I should mention, we have a ton. Between hand-me-downs received and what we bought and other gifts, our son has been a little bit of a fashion plate.

Well, I decided that I wanted to buy "a few" new outfits for this baby.  PArtly because I don't want him to have ALL hand-me-downs (although I'm sure he won't care as an infant).  Partly because I'm scared that 30 years from now I won't be able to tell my two babies apart in pictures.  FOr some reason I seem to believe that I will remember exactly which outfit was purchased for which boy in 30 years.

I was just gathering all the stuff we have for the baby so far and moving it into one closet so I can keep track of it.  It seems I decided that the new baby needed "a few" new outfits on more shopping trips than I remember.  I must have at least 20 outfits in NB and 3 mos size. I might actually have Carter's ENTIRE fall line.  I found one outfit I had bought in BOTH NB and 3 mos size.  I must really like that one.  It's actually the one we're using as a coming home outfit so, having both sizes might not be a bad idea but, that's more a rationalization after the fact than reflective of any sort of planning on my part.

Seriously, I thought I got him like 5 new things. It was more like 5 new things on 5 different trips.  WHoops.

And I know there's more in my trunk.  I'm going to blame this on pregnancy brain if anyone asks.

Re: Oops :)

  • Wow! I am sitting here feeling guilty because I have yet to buy one thing for my DS#2. I keep thinking he needs a few cute things of his own but everytime I go to the store it seems like I have everything or something similar already. Also I am having a sprinkle so I am waiting until after that to stock up on any other stuff we might need to buy.

I washed all DS #1's old clothes the other day and there are definitely some gaps in the warm clothing department so hopefully I'll get a chance to pick some cute things out before too long. It does seem like DS #1 needs more new clothes than DS#2 at the moment so I see a big shopping spree in my future :)

  • Don't feel guilty at all!! By going about it the way you are, you'll wind up with some cute new things that you actually NEED instead of 20 things you probably don't.

The only things I do remember specifically wanting more of when my son were infant were cardigans w/o a hood and pants with cuffs on the end so they don't ride up.  I should have left my shopping at that.

My post wasn't a bragging post, it was an "I feel really foolish right now" post.

  • I'm kind of the same way - I think each kid deserve a couple new things.  My second DD was born at the same time of year as my first and she has more clothes than anyone else in the house because she has hand-me-downs from our oldest PLUS a family friend and then I buy her a couple new things...

Now, this new little boy is our first boy and I have gone a little crazy buying him things from the Rock-a-Bye Blues line from Carter's because I think it's just so stinking cute.  (I'm a music teacher so that's part of the appeal, I'm sure!)  What's the big deal you ask??? My sister gave me two tubs of clothing from my nephew who is only 18 months old... Most of the stuff is short sleeved though and I plan on using it to layer.  Plus, they were way into the monkey line so we have a ton of that... I guess my baby will be a rock star monkey.  :)

  • I need to get DD2 a few things too but I'm so much better at the mad scramble at the end then buying things here and there.
