I have one used and 2 new. I haven't noticed significant shrinkage. You may have an older style but I don't know the history of style changes with GMs.
Wovens do shrink a fair amount, but you also may be surprised by the length of time that your baby will be able to wear them. It's amazing how their bodies change when they become mobile!
Mine shrunk a ton but I think part of my problem is that I dried them on hot a few times at the beginning and didn't notice. They were originally about the same size as my Piddle Poddles and now they are noticeably smaller.
B4s are enormous. My almost 30 pound baby still has waaaay more rise than he needs in his B4s.
There have been a half dozen different iterations of GMs, with sizing varying a bit between each one. Turned knits tend to be a bit smaller. If you have serged knits, I can pretty much guarantee they will last you until at least 18 months, if not longer depending on if your baby is "average" size or not.
I have a urned woven and a serged knit. The woven is smaller but both have super short rises on my guy. I can not see them lasting much longer.
I think you will be surprised. My son is 99.7 percentile for height and 95 percentile for weight. At 11 months he's > 33" and almost 30 pounds. And serged knits fit him great.

DD is in them all at 18 months.
Dumb question, but you didn't happen to buy NBs did you?
I just can't imagine a GM being small on a 4-month-old...

They are knit and I have both old and new style so well see.
Its mostly the rise I see maybe being a problem because I can still overlap the sides when I snap him up!.
I was comparing to my B4s. And I guess they are pretty similar in size to a piddle poodle I have...
