  • I think people who have their panties in a wad about this obviously have never had fertility issues, otherwise they would understand the financial toll taken on to do IVF. What a$$hats.

On a side note, the radio station I listen to gave away a free boob job this summer and there was barely a peep made about it.

    After TTC with IR PCOS:
    April 2011: Metformin 1500mg + Clomid 100mg + Ovidrel + Prometrium = BFP!
    Beta #1 at 14DPO: 197 Beta #2 at 18DPO: 1296
At 40w6d, our Team Green surprise came by unplanned C-section and changed our lives forever!

  • The only comment in the article against the raffle that I agree with is that the winner could be someone that doesn't need IVF.  But, it could be someone whose only opportunity to have a child is if they win the raffle.  Its not like they are raffling of a child, they are raffling off the money to undergo the treatments.

I want to poke eyes out of the guy that said "If you can't have a baby, try adopting an unwanted baby, rather than pumping your body full of hormones and getting your body to do something it obviously wasn't made to do."  So again, a fertile telling infertiles that they are broken and expected to adopt unwanted babies.  Even if he wasn't so completely off base, adoption just isn't that simple and inexpensive.

I attended at seminar at my IVF clinic and won an IVF cycle with physician fees paid for my third cycle.  If it wasn't for that, I doubt I would be on this board right now.

  • I actually live in the city where this is happening. I think what people are getting their panties in a wad about is actually justified. I don't think it's about the prize.. it's about the execution of the contest imo.

This morning, I drove down the road on my way to work, to see girls standing out there with signs in their hands promoting the contest. The signs are just pictures of babies on them that say stuff like "Are you my mom?", or "I could be yours".

They're promoting the contest in the same way that they would promote giving away a car, and I think that's what people are getting upset about. That's what upsets me about it anyway.

I personally think the idea of what they are doing is great.... But the execution of the contest is absolutely disgusting. They're not promoting awareness of fertility issues whatsoever, it's all just about how far they can push the envelope to get their marketing initiatives out to the public about their radio station.

I think if a more reputable radio station would have taken something like this on, they would have approached it in a more sensitive manner. HOT 89.9 is known for their ridiculous publicity stunts. If the contest was more about people's stories, and the reasons why people even have to consider this type of treatment, awareness etc.. it would have gone down in a totally different way in my opinion.

ETA: These are the signs I saw this morning.

Same thing happened for me. I can't believe some of the comments people made. I feel so lucky and grateful for winning!
