The first few weeks home with Newborn

Hi Ladies

Sure this has been asked plenty but wondering how often toddler will be woken up by newborns night time crying. My DS, who is 18months, was very loud when he cried as a newborn and I am just wondering if I should prepare myself mentally that the first few weeks that DD is home from the hospital DS will wake up at night due to her crying.

Hope this makes sense and thank you! Only 5 weeks to go till DD arrives. Assuming she doesn't come early

We didn't have any problems with that...DS was 21 months when DD was born. DS is an has been a great sleeper so that was something we never worries about.

We have a fan is DS's room and we also kept his door closed. He has maybe woken up a handful of times from DD crying...when she was SCREAMING and their rooms are right next to each other. It really hasn't been an issue like I thought it would be!

Put a white noise machine in DS's room and he shouldn't hear the crying. DS has a window A/C in his room, which acts as white noise. Never once has he woken up to DD crying.

We didn't have problems with this...but DD's room is upstairs and DS slept in our room which is downstairs.

DS doesn't really cry much, either. His "cry" is more of a whimper!

#1 was a kick ass sleeper & #2 wasn't very loud

plus- #1 is downstairs & #2 was upstairs- so no issues

I wouldnt worry myself over that. Plus, if it does happen that first night home, you can do a million things to not make it happen the following night.
