Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Does your lo still wakes up in the middle of night to eat?

My little princess who will be 11 months next week still wakes up 2 to 3 times to breastfeed in the middle of the night! She doesn't fully wake up all she does is scream a little for the boob and eat as much as she wants with her eyes close once she is done she turn around and goes back to sleep like nothing. I have tried tricking her with the paci but it doesnt work. Anyone having the same issue?

  • Don't have that issue but I know several moms here that still BF and do have that issue (I don't BF).  Maybe they will respond and help you out.  GL!

  • Yes, but I don't know how many times she feeds at night since neither of us wake up.

however long the night, dawn will break.

  • This is just my opinion BUT your child is not hungry and is only waking due to habit.  If you don't mind, then keeping feeding.  However, if you want to break her out of that habit and get some sleep, you may need to do some sort of sleep training.  It took us 3 nights to get our sleeper and we did it at about 10 months.

  • Yes, most nights she gets up once for a feeding.

  • He dropped all night feedings on his own a couple weeks ago. His solids intake increased a lot around that time.
  • Night nursing isn't just about eating and it is normal for babies to want to be comforted at night. They tend to wake up more to nurse at night if you cosleep. LO just grew out of it and we put her in her crib (in our room( cause she kept climbing off the floor bed instead of going to sleep. Now she doesn't wake up at all at night although she did do that sometimes while sleeping right next to me. I think she will grow out of it or you can try the crib. But, it is normal.

  • I'm not BF'ing, but LO still gets up once a night on most nights.  I'd love to think he's not hungry, but he downs the entire bottle in a blink of the eye.  My Dr. did suggest I try feeding him his dinner closer to his bedtime to see if maybe it would help, but so far that doesn't seem to be the magic key to when he does STTN.  I know he'll get there eventually though.
