2nd Trimester

Do you wear your bra to bed?

So I have heard of women wearing their bra to bed but now that I am pregnant I am hearing of this all the time. I was just shopping on Motherhood Maternity and they sell a "bed bra".

I read somewhere that it helps with sagging but is that it? Do you wear it because you need extra support? I am only a C and have tried wearing a loose sports bra to bed but found it very uncomfortable.

So do you and why?

Re: Do you wear your bra to bed?

  • I've worn a bra to sleep in since high school, and I credit it with helping me avoid sagging (nearly completely)... Pre-pregnancy, I was a G-cup, though, so extra support is always a good thing. ;) Basically, though, if I didn't wear a bra to sleep, my chest, especially the muscles above the breasts, would get really sore and uncomfortable.

  • I've always wore a bra to bed. Every since I can remember.

Granted I believe it does help against sagging. I went from a C - DDD with my first pregnancy and I also breast fed for a while. Once I stopped breast feeding and started losing more pregnancy weight I went down to a D/DD. This is my second Pregnancy and I went from a D back up to a DD.  But I still dont have alot of sagging either.

So mine is mainly out of habit and for support as well.

I am a C cup normally and so I suppose I'll be a few sizes larger come closer to the end.  I don't sleep with a bra on, nor have I ever (unless I'm super tired and can't be bothered to undress).  I don't do it because I haven't seen the point, I'm comfier without it, and the times that I have I get pinch marks on shoulders from the straps.  I figure too that it's good to give the ladies time to breathe.  To each their own I guess.

This is pretty much how I feel. My parents wouldn't "allow" me to sleep with a bra on as they said your skin needs to breath and it's not healthy to have them cooped up all day and it causes inflammation ..... blah blah.

  • I am smaller chested so i just wear a tank with a bra in it or a stretchy work out tank. I can't sleep with a bra on even if I wanted too. Too uncomfy for me! But everyone is different. I think if you plan on nursing they will sag no matter what you do! I have nursed 3 and going to with #4 and my boobs will never be the same again!:( But it is worth it!

  • I'm a G-H and I don't wear a bra to bed. I never have. It's just uncomfortable to me.

  • I have only gone from a B to a C so far, and I had almost always worn a bra to bed from teen years up until I became pregnant.  Now I prefer to sleep without one on.

I'm not sure how legitimate the claim of sleeping with one on will prevent or stop sagging, but if you really want to wear one - I recommend going out and getting VS's "Incredible" bra. It basically molds to your shape on the inside and is super comfy with plenty of support!  PLUS it looks great under tees.  You don't see any bra lines or anything!  I have it in nude, white, and black and pink.

  • Nope it feels sooo good to get it off at night. I may if they get bigger (currently a DD) wear a crop style but definitly not ready for that yet.

  • I've worn a sports bra to bed ever since I got implants. When I had tiny boobs it didn't matter, now that they're bigger I need the extra support. Without a bra I feel like I'm all over the place, lol.

ETA: I'm normally a DD, last time I got up to a H during pregnancy, and like an I or something crazy when my milk came in. My boobs still look pretty good, if I do say so myself. Could be bra wearing, implants, combo, idk. I'm just more comfortable supported at night. Also, you need a place to put the nursing pads so you don't wake up in a puddle! I slept in nursing tanks with built in shelf bras for easy access after DS was born.

  • Heck no! Im little and have a large chest way tooo uncomfortable, Im lucky if the under wear stay on
  • I wear a bra all the time except showers! Have since High School and now feel uncomfortable if I'm not wearing one. (Like when they made me take it off in labor with DD).

  • I never used to but I started after getting pregnant because I read a bunch of places that as your boobs grow it will help with sagging later.  The extra weight will be supported so that it's not dragging down on your chest muscles and skin and stretching it all out.
  • I am a C cup normally - D cup when I was nursing, but I wear shelf bra tank tops to bed.  Started when I was nursing because my boobs were sore, and now I am just super comfortable in a shelf bra tank top.

I have no idea if it really helps prevent sagging

  • I have since high school! I think it feels so gross not to-- like my boobs are sagging. I wear a really loose sports bra-- it's not restricting at all, but gives enough support to not feel floppy! I am a C/D before pregnancy, so it just feels gross not to. And I do think it helps prevent sagging!

  • When I was way younger, I slept with a bra on. Since then the girls have gotten significantly larger, and regardless of what style bra I wear, they don't stay in place, so I stopped bothering.  Also, right around the time I moved out for college, I discovered I strip in my sleep.  I can go to bed with PJs on and wake up in the nude.  My DH doesn't seem to mind, haha.

  • I didn't use to, but after becoming pregnant I needed the extra support. I was a D cup and am at least at DD now and it is painful to even bend over due to the extra weight in my breasts. I use a semi loose fitting sports bra and that does the trick for me @ least for now. It is easing up a bit in this 2nd trimester.
  • I used to (pre-pregnancy) but I had 'bed bras' now I wear a sports bra or tank top with a bralette in it.......I don't like not having one on....
