LO is 10 mo old. Not sure if this is just a phase or normal but she now wants to feed herself pretty much all the time. We do not really follow BLW. , I've been giving her a lot of finger food though so she can practice her pincer grasp. Now that she's mastered her grasp, she picks up food that's already in her mouth (that I have given with a spoon) and re-feed herself lol. SOme food are meant to be eaten with a spoon so sometimes it's kinda frustrating and messy when she does this lol. I guess she is showing independence this early? Should I just let her continue doing it or will she get over this phase? It doesn't seem like she's eating much if she's feeding herself but DH said I should not be worried. Did you LO go through this phase?
Re: s/o solids, LO wants to feed herself all.the.time
yeah just go w/the flow
we let her feed herself as soon as she was able...that's why we have all the fun food pics
it gets all.over.the.place, esp when she uses her hair as a napkin
even now, she CAN use a spoon and fork but often prefers her hands b/c it is easier....she even eats oatmeal with her fingers!!! but we do our best to clean her up after breakfast/lunch and she goes right into the bath after dinner

This!
For the time being, you may find it easier just to avoid foods that HAVE to be eaten with a spoon (e.g., yogurt) and replace them with more finger friendly foods (e.g., cheese cubes).
But like Jaime said, even now my guys CAN use a fork and spoon but they still prefer to use their hands about 90% of the time - although, weirdly, they will hold the utensil in one hand and eat with the other (in fact, Dash often won't eat until he gets his spoon/fork to hold lol).
Yes, she does this too! lol. good idea in doing bath after dinner. we normally do dinner first and then play for a few mins before bath. i guess we'll move dinner a few minutes later, closer to bath time.
too funny and cute :-). lastnight, i just started giving her a spoon to play with. we'll see how it goes.
Thanks!
