I think I hate my OB practice!

I think most of you know my story.  Short recap: Last Sunday went to hospital, told had miscarriage.  Fast Forward 4 days and an u/s lo and behold there's a baby in there and it's healthy and strong.

So, today I had another "follow up" appt.  The doc asked some necessary questions, did a pelvic exam then tried to find hb on the doppler.  He couldn't find it and so now of course I'm traumatized!  He says, oh don't worry, you saw a good heartbeat on u/s and it's a little early for the doppler(they set me back at 9 weeks 6 days).  Then WHY even try?  Now I have to have my levels checked AGAIN to make sure baby is ok.  I'm so sad and stressed.  Not one doctor has apologized for telling me that I had a miscarriage but didn't.  I just want to know that my baby is ok Sad

I am so sorry.  Could you just switch OB's?  Do you have any friends/family that have experience with a good OB (that delivered their baby/ies).  That is how I chose mine and he has been AMAZING!!! (staff and nurses too).  I have sent 3-4 friends there and 2 of them had babies with him this past year too.

  • I have gotten referalls from 2 friends.  This practice delivered my son and I love the hospital where they deliver but I think it's time to move on.  I don't think I should feel worse AFTER my appt's with them.

    I would switch.

I had some spotting and have had 4 u/s. My ute is retroverted so ANY time past 11 weeks they can't find the HB on doppler I get an u/s so I don't have a panic attack!

  • I'm so so sorry to hear that they misinformed you of a miscarriage. That would be horrible. But be happy that they were wrong.

I lost 4 babies (around week 5) with my original Dr. So I switched Drs. My new Dr ran blood work found my progesterone was low. Started me on Clomid for one month. Bam we were pregnant and got me on progesterone suppositories and here I am at 10 weeks. I firmly believe if you don't trust or like your Dr then you need to switch.

Good luck and I hope your baby is healthy and stays put for a while.

    Lily,

Is retroverted the same as tipped? Mine is tipped and slightly heart shaped. They said it should be ok. My mom was tipped and she had 2 kids fine. I still worry about it though haha.

  • On my phone so I can't quote. Re reading my post it was kind of confusing. Yes retroverted is tipped. I don't freak bc of that. It's bc of the spotting. I NEED to hear that HB. I know it's bc of the backward ute that I can't on Doppler but it's still scary seeing blood and not hearing a HB regardless of why... So my OB gives me an us so I don't need a padded room :)
  • They should have done an ultrasound for you. There is no need to make you worry after what you have gone through this past week. So sorry! I would think about switching because it is still early on.

  • I'm so sorry that you have to deal with this after everything you've been through. If you would feel more comfortable with a new dr., then I think you should switch.

  • I can't even being put thru all that. Find a different doc. As a healthcare provider I can say, there is nothing worse than not having complete faith in your doc. I sure hope your LO is ok and you can move on...with a better doctor.
