Eating solids after Hand Foot & Mouth

Ok, so today is the first morning Matthew woke up in relatively good spirits - thank goodness for the little things!  I took him to daycare today, so we shall see.

How long did it take for your LO to start eating solids again?  Really since I would say Saturday he's barely eaten any solids, even bland ones.  DH was able to get him to eat some bites of a waffle on Sunday, but he's also a lot more forceful than I am.  We've kept him well hydrated and he's been eating some yogurt, ice cream, some of the squeezable puree pouch baby foods, drinking milk and drinkable yogurts, but I'm just curious to when I should expect him to start wanting real food again.

I tried a muffin this morning and he spit it out, but he downed the milk / yogurt combo I gave him.  Should I assume when he's hungry enough he'll just eat again?

TIA!

PS.  If he or any other subsequent children EVER get this, I'm leaving town.  This crap absolutely SUCKS!

Re: Eating solids after Hand Foot & Mouth

  • I remember it took a full week for Gavin to get his appetite back.  He lived off those yo-baby yogurt drinks and milk.  He wouldn't eat anything.  But be prepared- Gavin ate us out of house and home after this illness passed!  He definitely made up for those lost calories and then some the following week.

Thank you!  I am dreaming of the day he will eat non stop, how sad is that!  He is typically SUCH a good eater - i.e. PIGGY, that I miss seeing him stuff his face.
