C-sections

FB users: "If you think of your scar as a smile..."

Hey, I just started a Facebook group today called "Cesarean Smiles". It's to be a positive place for c-section moms. I guess the description says it all.

I've just noticed that, even in places that don't completely bash c-sections all the time, that there tends to be this idea that if you choose a c-section, you are not fully informed. Or if you had to have a c-section, then you must feel so depressed now.

I know that's not always the case! I don't feel sad at all. I know there are others!

  • I agree with you... I don't feel sad at all about my c-section, and I don't feel that I missed out in any way.  Just a means to an end...

  • I had a gut feeling during my pregnancy that I was going to have a c-section. Just could never shake that feeling. In the end, my OB was planning to deliver at 39 weeks, but I had to have an emergency c-section 2 weeks early. I did suffer from depression right after I had my son because I just wasn't mentally prepared to have him right then and there and we had nothing set up at home.

I just find it irksome that some women think you've missed out on the birthing experience when you have a c-section.
