Do I really need a payroll service for nanny?

It seems to me that I just need to prepare a statement every week with her hours times hourly rate, her cumulative social security and medicare withholdings. For example it would be
40 hours * $15 = $600
4.2% Social Security = $25.20 (Changes to 6.2% in 2012)
1.45% Medicare = $8.70
Net Pay = $566.10
Am I missing something?

  • We used a payroll service for the first year, to get all our ducks in a row and make sure we didn't miss payments to the state or county.  Since then, we've gone on our own.
