Birthday Gifts Ideas for 5 yr old

My nephew will be 5 next month and I'm looking for good ideas for a birthday gift(s), any suggestions?  TIA!

Re: Birthday Gifts Ideas for 5 yr old

  • I like to stay away from toys and go with arts and crafts kits.  I love the aisle in the craft store with wooden items that can be painted- picture frames, bird houses, dinosaurs, model cars.  Most kids love that kind of thing, and moms have something to put aside for a great rainy day activity (and  the kid can then give the finished ones away to relatives as gifts if they have too much clutter in the house).  I'll buy several of the wooden items, plus a paint set, brushes, and stuff like glitter glue or other things to decorate with.

  • I just went to a 5 year old boys birthday party this weekend and he loved Ben 10.  Also, any other super hero also went over well...spiderman, transformers, etc.  BUT, I think the thing I saw him play with the most was the $1 Flarp Noise Putty that I bought him at Wal-Mart!  He and his 8 year old brother thought it was the funniest thing EVER!  All the kids were fighting over it, even my little girl.  I wish I had bought about 5 more!  Sometimes the simplest things are the best!

  • At 5 transformers were all my guy asked for.

I'd check with the Mamma to see what he's into.

And then I'd check to see if they make a costume for it.

Of all the toys my guy got he wore that costume daily for all of his imaginary play and it was by far the favorite gift. (given by a Mom of older boys who knew he'd go gaga over it)

Of course I then had to get a Bumblee Bee costume for the little brother so he could be Optimus Prime's side kick.

    Truck loads of fun!

If you want to be the responsible aunt I'd get the first set of BOB books.  He'll be learning to read this year (if he isn't already - again check with the Mom)

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
