Moms in Canada aren't as lucky as some might think. Sure, we get a year off, but if your job doesn't top you up (and most jobs don't), you only get 55% of your salary through UI, which is still taxed. In this day and age when women often contribute 50% or more of the household income, that isn't enough to live on, especially with the expense of a new baby.
I thought that restless sleeping was supposed to start in the 3rd trimester, I just started my 2nd trimester and I just can't get comfortable at night! Between the tossing and turning and getting up to go to the bathroom I feel like I get no sleep at all!

I really hope I can find a name I love for this baby. I'm at a total loss for names!
OMG, I'm right there with you! With DD, we knew she was going to be a Sasha even before we were married. With this LO, we've talked about names and have a few that we like (at least girl names, DH seemed to have backed out of all the names we liked for boys, sigh), but none of them feel like my kid. Granted, we still have plenty of time to think about it, it's still something that I'd like to have settled before the birth.
Also, I was just going through my fall clothes and miraculously fit into my pre-pg jeans, while none of the shorts fit me for the past month or so. WTH!? How big was I last winter/spring??
NO one warned me about this awkward stage of pregnancy. I do not have a baby bump and do not look pregnant, however I do look like I gained 10 pounds (I haven't!) I call this my "I am not gaining weight I am pregnant phase" only because the other day someone commented when I mentioned I was pregnant "oh I thought you were just gaining weight" grrr
I feel like I have been beaten up. My whole body aches. And I am having muscle cramps like CRAZY, but drinking water makes me nauseous, so I have nothing but Gatorade to try to combat it.
My boss is a pig. He loudly slurps his tea, burps every five seconds when he's talking, licks cheese-doodle leavings off his fingers with a big wet noise and whenever we go out to lunch as a department, he eats most of the shared appetizer, orders more food than all of us and always suggests we split the check evenly.

Last night we were talking about me going back to work or staying home and my jaw dropped open when DH said that he wanted me to take a year off of work. I thought I would only take 3 months. Huh.
I really am kinda p!ssed that H is going back on his 'let's find a bigger place' thing. Last night he suggested rearranging the house- to make the master bedroom a baby/computer room (??? So... he's going to keep the baby/ies awake all night with the bright computer light on? I don't think so!) and one of the other rooms our room. Since the master bedroom is bigger than the other bedrooms this should make perfect sense to me. A-hole.

Me too.... sigh.
My random comment is that I'm dry as crap. It might be my thyroid medication (which they just fiddled with), but my skin is so dry. I have peeling skin on my arms and my lips. It's gross. It doesn't matter how much I exfoliate or moisturize. I feel like Ashy Larry.

Me too!! & for some reason my body thinks 5am is the time to get up. Ummm no!! I have until 7 (that's when my girls wake up) I miss my sleep!

I sleep so poorly right now, too! Every little ache wakes me up.
My parents have been wanting grandbabies for about six years now. They're so excited that they're going to help SO and me watch Dewey during our working hours. I feel so lucky to have them, but I'm scared I might get a little sick of always having my parents around.
I HATE when parents bring children of the opposite sex into a restroom with them. MH and I were at the Olive Garden a couple weeks ago and I was in the restroom using the facilities and touching up my makeup when a mom comes in with three kids - a girl around 10, and two boys around 8 and 12. She just stood there while they used the bathroom, guarding the door. This is really frustrating to me. I used to work at a YMCA where parents would bring their children of both sexes into the gender specific bathrooms. The boys were notorious for looking under the stalls and asking inappropriate questions. I understand bringing babies and toddlers in... but 8 and 12 year olds?

I really hope this is a boy ... for the sake of the nursery.
I want to have a travel nursery theme, which I was hoping would be pretty gender-neutral (i.e. Paris, London, Dublin, India, etc.). I figured I could just tweak the "little things" a bit to make the room a little more girly or boyish. But the only bedding I can find that I like is A) discontinued (bummer! but I've found a few sets hidden in the depths of the internet) & definitely more boyish. Here's hoping for a boy!!
I have been eating way to bad at work the past couple days. Sure I will have a sandwich or something, but them here comes chocolate and chips and whatever else I can eat. I wanted to eat healthier today...needless to say, I just ate an awesomely huge chocolate cupcake someone brought me...oops!
