Kids Crossing Learning Center at FUMC Lawrenceville?

Our son is currently at a Primrose School in Lawrenceville, but putting two there will cost us more than our mortgage every month so we are looking at other options.  Does anyone have any experience with Kids Crossing at First United Methodist in Lawrenceville?  It's on DH's way to work and looks like a good alternative.  They have a structured curriculum which I like.  Just wondering if anyone used them and what opinions were.  We're going to drop in for a visit after this baby is born and hope for the best.

  • There are a few of us here that have used them for DC and Preschool.  Both are wonderful.  You will love it.

  • Oh, I'm so glad to hear that!  I've really been battling with this decision because we LOVE Primrose, but at around $1,850 a month for two children, our budget just can't stretch that much (especially since this baby was quite a surprise).  KCLC would shave about $600 off our projected childcare budget, so as long as it is a quality environment for my kids I guess it is a no-brainer.  Thanks for the input, I hope to hear more!

  • We love KC.  All their programs are awesome.  I have used half day and the full time program and loved them both.  My dd comes home everyday having learned something new.

    Holy Primrose Batman!!

Seriously, KCLC will really surprise you at the bang for your buck.  Plus meals are included, I think.  Honestly, P was doing SO great in the FT DC that when I quit I almost adjusted our budget so she could keep going when we decided I would stay home.  The preschool was a no-brainer given our experience with the FT DC.  Isaac has only been in the preschool but he has flourished there too.  You will LOVE LOVE LOVE it.  I promise.

  • Yeah, Primrose is quite proud of themselves at those prices.  I always told myself when I cut that check every month that you get what you pay for.  Unfortunately, I just can't afford to pay for it anymore!  I'm glad to hear good things about KCLC.  It would be so convenient for DH to just drop them off on his way to work instead of going out of the way (I work in Midtown so I'm on evening pick-up duty).  I can't wait to visit and see it for myself!

Call up Angel, and do a tour.  I toured some high end priced places when I was looking at centers around the area and ultimately it boiled down to the way the teachers interact with the kids.  The FT program has a curriculum that includes music, chapel, and Spanish.  On rainy days they take the kids to the gym to play rather than keep them boxed up in the room which is nice.  But yes, you do get meals included in the FT program.  (Way back when, you had to pack lunch.)  The meals are kid friendly stuff like chicken nuggets and fish sticks.

That's who I spoke with when I called to find out about availability.  I like that aspect of the facility too.  I can always tell when my son is feeling pent up from being inside all day!  I'm looking forward to visiting.  I hope my son likes it as well as he likes Primrose, because we are looking to make the switch sooner rather than later.  I'm sure it will be great!
