back story: Tuesday at work I was having what i thought were normal braxton hicks contractions. So I didnt think much of it. Wednesday was one of my days off so I took it easy and didnt feel much until we walked around the grocery store later that evening. I ended up having what we now know was a gall bladder attack that night that lasted for 45 minutes. ( i had been having these attacks every once in awhile but the doctors had all assumed it was heartburn)
Wednesday morning I woke up in a lot of pain and sore so I called my doctor and they told me to come in. They sent me over to the hospital and sure enough I was having strong contractions. They gave me a shot to stop it but for some reason the amount of pain I was in would not go away. Thats when we did an ultrsound and found out I had gall stones which had traveled down my ducts and caused me to have full blown pancriatitis. Fun!
They kept me overnight to monitor me and I went from a 0 to a 2 within 24 hours so they knew I was going into labor. But my pain did not go away and they kept saying they were just going to send me home on pain meds once the inflamattion had gone down but that was ridiculous to me becaue I could hardly get myself out of bed I was in so much pain.
I didnt dilate going into Saturday but moving into Sunday by around 12 pm I started feeling pressure down below. I called in my nurse and when she cheked me I had moved to a four. They said one more cm and we would be moved to a l&d room. Sure enough an hour went by and I was at a five. So we got moved over and gave me an epidural which did not hurt at all. My doctor said he wanted to put an internal monitor in because the outside one wasnt telling him enough information. So he went in and popped my water and I practically flooded the room it felt like there was so much!
Around 3: 50 I woke up from a nap feeling a serious urge to push and had my nurse check me and she couldnt believe it. In about 2.5 hours I had gone from a 5 to a 9.5 ( and I'm a FTM). So we started calling family and the doctors started getting everything ready for delivery. At 5 pm I started pushing and my beautiful girl made her apperance at 5:14 pm on 9/11/11. She weighed 6 lbs 4.4 oz and was 17.5 inches long.
Because she was born at 35 weeks 5 days the NICU team came in and have her with them for right now. They said she is doing great, breathing on her own, starting to feed all by herself, and will probably go home with us on Wednesday.
I am stuck in the hospital as well until Wednesday because I had to have my gall bladder removed today. Surgery went really well and most of my pain is starting to go away so I have had a very busy week!
With that I leave you with a picture of my baby girl!
Re: Addison is here! Birth Story PIP
You must feel so much lighter having a baby and a gall bladder out in just a few days. LOL!
Congrats! I'm glad you are all doing well.
