I haven't really discussed much with my doctor. I am in an odd situation where the doctor I saw for Owen's 4 month was not our normal one (my doc went on maternity leave, then the doc I delivered with went on maternity leave, this doc is covering until doc #1 comes back in a couple months). She didn't ask about food or sleeping or any other parenting decisions. I didn't ask her because I know what I want to do and I'm comfortable with that. She stuck to checking his weight, length, general health, and giving vaccines.
I mentioned starting DS on solids and skipping purees and he said he hadn't heard of the new trend and that it is not being talked about in medical publications. He said he would be too worried about choking and thinks starting with purees is better.
Also, I know that my DD could not feed herself for quite some time. Def not by 6 months so it would be delaying solids even later. My doc believes that starting things too late makes the transition even more difficult.
I brought it up, but my doctor didn't seem to fully understand what it was. She went on to say that it would be fine, but that I needed to make sure the food is very soft nearly pureed. I just let it go at that point. She obviously hasn't done the research into it that I have.
My doc also feel strongly that cereal needs to be started between now and 6 months but definitely at 6 months for the iron. I didn't even bother letting her now I will probably skip cereals all together.
I might talk to them about it more at his 6 month appointment, but I doubt they will be highly supportive of it.

My pedi is a HUGE fan of BLW. In fact, I feel bad because K is a choker and we've had to use purees and I'm afraid he'll be all judgy about it.
Good Luck!
