Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

anyone tried the DIY garden stepping stone?

I was debating on trying this.  Michaels used to have them (not sure if they do now) but "Five Below" has it for $5.  I guess I'm thinking ahead for possible Christmas ideas and my MIL has a great garden.  Could be a yearly thing with DS's handprint :)

  • We did one for Father's day this year for DH.  I think that DS was too young for it at that point because getting his handprint or footprint into it without it smudging too badly was so hard.  He was squirming all over the place and wanted no part of it.  I eventually got his footprint onto it but it took several attempts and redos.

  • I was thinking of doing this too. I definitely need to check out Five Below bc that's a lot cheaper than what it was listed for at Hobby Lobby. I had a tough time last year getting a handprint from DS for a tree ornament for DH, but it should be easier now that he's older, I'd think. Such a cute idea for each year.

  • We got two of the Michales ones and then I bought extra decor for them. They were suppose to be gifts for my parents and IL's. WE attempted this a couple of months ago and it was a massive fail. We got the stones all decorated followed the instructions but when it was time to put LO's hand in it to make a hand print... The minute her hand would touch it she would try to grab it and make a fist. We couldn't keep her hand flat so it was a mjor fail. WE are goin gto try again soon hoping now that she is a little older we can do it. We tried her foot print in the other one but since she has some webbed toes it kinda looked funny and it just wasn't as cute as a hand print

  • My parents have them for all 7 grandkids throughout their backyard.  Both my parents and the kids love them.
  • We tried around June to do the DIY garden Stepping stone and my DD was 19 months at the time refused to put her hand in cement, so I put her foot in it. Oh she freaked out, it's okay. DH liked it, at least he said he did.
