5 Weeks Pregnant

First Time Mommy!

My husband and I have been married for a little over 3 years and about a year ago I got off of Birth Control and back in Feb. got a bunch of blood tests done and was told I would have trouble conceiving....little did the Dr. know that my God is greater! :) We just found out last Monday that we are pregnant. 5 weeks and 1 day today. Due on April 25th! We are so excited and nervous and ready to feel pregnant. We told everyone (except work folks) and pray every day for a healthy growing baby! It still doesn't seem real and I still have to wait until September 14th for my first OB appt. Hoping to hear the baby's heart!! Only symptoms are being VERY tired and dealing with moodiness and very sore breasts...had some slight cramping the past few days too, but nothing too bad...no morning sickness and praying it stays that way since all the women in my family had very easy pregnancies! Congrats to all the new mommies!!

Re: First Time Mommy!

  • Congrats my dear!  So happy for you and your hubby!!!  I just found out yesterday that I too am pregnant with my first and my hubby's 2nd (he has a 12 year old daughter), we are so excited.  The problem Im having is the stress I guess, what if I do something wrong.  He keeps telling me to relax, so im sure we'll be fine, its funny he is already talking to the baby, he's so happy.  We've decided to wait to tell everyone, because I would like to tell his daughter first.  She doesnt live with us (we only get her every other weekend), so it looks like we have to wait.  But its our little secret for now ;) Anyway, from the looks of our due dates our little ones will only be a day apart, my calculation is for April 26th!  So excited for you!  Keep me updated on everything, at least I know there is someone very close in the area going through the same thing!!!!

  • Congrats! I too was told years ago that I would have trouble conceiving naturally, but Look at God!!! Today makes 5 weeks 1 day for me and I am due on April 28th! Me and my husband are excited and nervous just like you guys, but trusting God and praying for an enjoyable pregnancy and a healthy baby. I will be praying that your first OB appointment and the remainder of your pregnancy goes well!!
  • Congrats to you, too!

I'm a 38 year old first time-r, myself. Never thought I'd have any kids at all, but I met the man of my dreams two years ago, and meeting "the one" has a way of changing one's mind.

I'm very happy for you, and hope that you're getting all of the rest that you need.

  • Wow Asemm911, it sounds like you're in a really similar situation to me!

I just found out today and this will be my first but my husband's second.  My lovely stepdaughter is 11 1/2 (The 1/2 is terribly important dontchaknow!).  I'm the same way - I waited until we had her with us before telling anyone about our engagement so that I could always tell her she was the first to know.  This time I'm going to wait as I need to tell my Mom first (we lost Dad a year and 1/2 ago so it's really important that I do that) and I'm going to hold off telling my stepdaughter as I don't want her Mom interfering in her usually negative way and ruining our joy.

My little stepdaughter, on the other hand, will be thrilled and I'm going to plan a really special day to tell her,

     Good Luck to us!

  • Congratulations everyone!

I'm 32 and just found out I'm pregnant for the first time and I'm thrilled, the one hiccup.. I've only been dating the baby-daddy for 6 months.  He's a great guy and is very happy about this joyous news, but honestly this is kind of scarry.  All of a sudden I'm thinking I want a ring on my finger before the baby arrives but my guy thinks we should not rush and "do it right" after the baby is born.  I haven't told my family yet and part of that is I know their first question will be about marriage.  Whew this is a lot.

  • Congrats everyone! We too just found out that we are going to be first time parents and are so excited! We have been together for 7 years next month but only acctually married for a year next month (we got married on the anniversary of when we got together). We decided at the end of june when my birth control ran out that we would start trying for a kid cause everyone told us that it usually takes a little bit, but I was pregnant by the end of august. We haven't told anyone yet that we are expecting, we are going to wait until after our first dr app which is Oct 14. From what I have figure my due date is going to be right around my birthday at the end of may. For the most I have been feeling alright I have been very tired, and nauseous pretty well all day. My boobs are very sore and I have been extra moody but I just keep thinking that in 9 short months it will all be over and I will be able to hold this little life i'm growing.

  • Weird! My husband and I have been married 3 years and 4 months, I got off BC last September and we have been TTC for 9 months now. I got pregnant in May and had a very early miscarriage. We recently found out I was pregnant again Sept. 16th! I am only 5 weeks 3 days, but everything looks fine this time around. My name is Jessica too! :) We have been praying tons that God is taking care of our little one and forming its innermost parts perfectly. It's been hard because we lost the other one so early, but our God IS big...and He has complete control over these miracles of life.

  • Yay! Congrats to everybody. I'm 5 weeks and 3 days along with my first, too. I'm 27 and hubby and I have been together for 10 years ( married for 5). We've had a long road to conceiving. I got off birth control 2 years ago, did the blood tests, did 6 months of Clomid (and its hot flashes) and , finally when we had both secretly given up, God said, "It's time". I'm really happy to hear you guys have the same stories of God's love towards us. So, needless to say, hubby and I are still in disbelief. We are too excited and are kind of in a daze. We pray daily for a healthy baby. We've only told a few people who knew about our struggle. Waiting to tell our family for Christmas. I'm sooo excited. I have a lot of changes coming up in my life : graduating from medical school in May, starting residency in (insert currently unknown state here) in July, possibly buying a new house. But the addition of our first child (Due June 19th) is the most exciting of them all. Congrats again, ladies :-)

  • Hi everyone! Congrats to everyone. We found out a week ago that we're expecting our first too. I'm OVER THE MOON! We've been trying for nine months. All I can do is walk around smiling. My husband insists that we wait to tell everyone (including my sister and my mom) until 12 weeks and it's killing me. Can't wait to keep hearing about everyone's stories.

Not sure about this ticker thing, but I'll try to put that in too :) Might need some help if it doesn't show up. image
