i am 40 weeks and 3 days pregnant now... went to the dr last thursday and i am 2.5cm dilated... they haven't mentioned inducing me yet.. i had a non stress test today and they found out that i am having contractions, but not feeling them. i didn't see my normal dr today, just a partner of his and he said, well, i guess you can come back this coming thurs for your next appt. didn't see if i had dilated more or not.. i have tried EVERYTHING to induce myself, walking, foods, sex, everything.. even acupressure. nothing works. i am not sure what else to do or how long the dr will say we have to wait before they do their induction.
does anyone have any ideas? my DH and i are desperate becaue i have a fractured tailbone and the pain is extremly bad, which is why i wonder if i can't feel the contractions over the tailbone pain. PLEASE HELP!
Re: need help with inducing labor ideas!
I googled this last night being almost 39 weeks myself, and the only thing I found that is recommended by most drs is sex. Orgasms and semen can help get things going. None of those other techniques like eating spicy foods, pineapple, castor oil, etc., have a direct effect on your uterus. They only affect your bowels and MIGHT help if your body is already going into labor, which means that you wouldn't have needed to suffer through the bowel stuff anyway. Short walks are okay, but a lot of drs say that you don't want to exhaust yourself before labor with long walks- save your energy. Sorry I'm not much help
OMG. What does your dr say about this? Is there anything that can be done during labor? You poor thing!
As long as it won't cause any problems with your tailbone, you could try massage or seeing a chiropractor...though you should definitely check with your doctor first! Evening primrose oil is supposed to "prepare your body" for labor (again, check with your doctor first).
What about water aerobics/swimming? Or even just walking around in the pool to provide some resistance while reducing impact to your joints. Even if it doesn't induce labor, I feel soooo much better whenever I am in the pool, and it might help with your tailbone.
regarding the tailbone, the dr said that i should get an epidural to help with the pain, considering i will be putting an enormous amount of pressure on it. which i agree. i've tried swimming and doing the water thing also... i've done the evening primrose also. i'd even go for a csection right now. we had our last ultrasound about 3 weeks ago and he was big and in the 66% for his size, so he's already matured and the more weight he gains, the more pressure i have. i just hope its soon.
thanks for the all the advice. i even tried castor oil two times and it didn't do anything. and when i mean nothing, i mean, it didn't affect my bowls either. i guess i'm just a weirdo
Your tailbone is going to hurt even worse after labor. I think I fractured mine when I had DS because when I could hardly stand up to get out of bed when I had him. I hope you have some luck soon!
