New to NC and looking for pedi recs in Wilmington area

Hi Mommies,

I haven't been on these boards in forever, but I thought this would be a good place to start since I need some good recommendations. We just moved here to Wilmington from Ohio on the 3rd and now I am looking for a new pedi.  I am looking for someone who is willing to work on a slower vac schedule, we are doing them just not as quickly or as many at one time.  I would also like someone who takes their time and is willing to answer my questions.  Any recs would be great.

 TIA

  • we go to the children's clinic at wilmington health/pediatrics.  my favorite doctor there is dr. yandle.  he is AWESOME!  he definitely takes his time and has always answered any questions i've had.

i don't know how they are w/the vac schedules since we pretty much followed the schedule, but you could always call the office and feel them out.

they have 3 offices.. the one in northchase is kind of crappy, and the one in leland is new but it's not strictly a pedi office.  the one near the hospital on silver stream is by far the nicest office. they have separate sick/well rooms and it's just a very nice clean office.  and we never have a very long wait there either.  like 5 minutes most times.

welcome to the area! i hope you enjoy wilmington!

We also go to Wilmington Health Associates (formally Children's Clinic) and see Dr. Yandle (LOVE him) & Dr. Aylesworth. They are both great. We are on a very delayed schedule and for the most part, they both respect our decisions and have been great with our DD.

  • Oh wow, thank you both for your responses.  Today I was looking through our network and saw Dr. Aylesworth and put her on my list of things to do tomorrow. Aubreysmom1, knowing that you are on a delayed schedule as well and go there really makes this feel like it could be a fit for us.  I wasn't sure that was going to go over as well down here.  I am really hoping they are accepting new patients and will get us set up tomorrow.

Again, thank you both for your suggestions and it's nice that you both reference the same place.

Do you guys ever have Wilmington get-togethers or have any mom's groups?  I am already missing my group from back home dearly.

  • Just wanted to say we used the same clinic when we lived in Wilmington and were happy with them.  We were used to a small 2 doctor clinic when we moved there, so I was a bit hesitant to go to such a large practice, but we ended up liking it.  We saw Dr. Archer as often as we could and LOVED him!!  My kids ASKED to go see him when we went...he was so kind and loving towards my kids.

  • I just wanted to drop by to say hello and welcome to the area! I've lived in Wilmington 9 years and I love it here. I don't have a ped recommendation because ours (The Pediatric Center) only takes newborns, I think.

    Yes, welcome!

We also go to the Pediatric Center, and everam01 is right.  I think they just recently switched to taking newborns only.    GL in your search!
