I would say Lauren..I am biased as well, my name is Lauryn. My parents had to be different in the spelling department. Everybody says Lauryn as normal but my husband years ago jokingly called me Laur-wren (sounds fancy and french) and he since then will always call me that at home lol
I have had many different nicknames from Lauryn too...One friend calls me Lo, another wren but nobody calls me Laur..I hate being called Laur lol
Rachel is a beautiful name. To go with the Jewish names thread, every single Rachel I have ever met is Jewish. So I put it with Ari, Risa, Rebekah, Jonah, etc. If that's not an issue for you, go for it. But if you're not Jewish, I think it's like others said in the other thread--like Irish parents naming their kid something Indian.
Lauren, I think, transcends religious and ethnic issues and I think it's a gorgeous name.

Lauren! I love Lauren. My husband and I can't agree on how to pronounce it, or I'd be all over that.
Is there more than one way to pronounce Lauren?
Yes, and it's the one reason I don't LOVE my name. My family is from PA. They call me LAR-en. That's what I prefer. I live in VA. Everyone calls me LOR-en. I hate that.
