Labeling Clothing for School

Hi,

I was just reading thru my little ones' preschool policy packet and read that all of their clothing must be labeled. I wondered what everyone does to label clothing-I don't want to ruin their stuff as they both have all new clothing. I was looking at Mabel's labels and Oliver's labels online and wondered if anyone used them and liked them? My son is super sensitive to "picky" stuff and even some tags so I wondered if this would be an issue-especially cause they are pricey! I would love any advice-thanks!!

Re: Labeling Clothing for School

  • I have ordered from two different label companies, one was Label Daddy and the other was Cherry Hill Designs.  The Label Daddy labels were hands down superior to the Cherry Hill ones.  I have been using the LD ones for over a year and they have been great, I will never order from another label company again.  They go on and off easily and I have never had one fall off one its own even after dozens of washings.  My son is also very picky about stuff on his clothes, he actually has sensory processing issues and he has never complained about the labels.

  • Thanks for the recommendation-I ordered some from label daddy! It was really helpful to have a recommendation for ones that won't bother my son-he is so sensitive. Also they had a great generic toy story icon and I just used their last name, that way I could just split the pack(I have boy/girl twins).

Spin313-that is what I would have done had I not read the policy packet! They are only going for two hours twice a week, but the school wants everything labeled down to their shoes! Seems kind of silly, especially as they will keep their change of clothes in their own backpack.

  • Hey thanks for your post. Sorry i'm not much of use but i find your post very helpful because i was wondering the same thing. I'll check out the label daddy as well.

  • Yeah, I'm old school and just brought out the permanent marker :-P  I just have to label backpacks and coats/jackets though.

  • I used mabels labels and loved them.  These days I just use a sharpie

  • Mine has the same rule. But I've never done it. The clothes on their bodies aren't likely to come off - and if they do it's because they're a mess and the clothes are going straight to a bag. I have a bag of spare clothes and I label the bag. They have never given me grief about it.

I DO label all jackets, sweaters, hoodies, and shoes. Because these pretty much always come off daily. I just use a sharpie on the label. On shoes I sharpie inside the shoe.

  • His extra clothes are place in a ziplock baggie and I wrote on the ziplock with marker.  We have labeled and my daycare has labelled several things with permanent marker and it irks me now because DS2 is wearing DS1's things.  It has his brother's name.
