Hi Ladies, I'm recovering from my second C-section. The first was 3 years ago; an emergency C after I was induced at 36 weeks and did not progress (NO dilation). This time I went into labor, labored for 36 hours and did not progress (again, NO dilation). I went into labor a week before my scheduled C-section, and, unfortunately for me, labored at home because I did not realize I WAS in labor until I went into "active" labor.
Anyway, I am finding recovering from this C-section to be a LOT harder than my first. I have had very little of the burning incision pain, which I had a ton of with my first C-section, but I have had a TON of the internal cramping and pain, which I certainly don't remember having 9 days postpartum with my last C-section.
My delivery was really difficult -- they gave me a spinal which made me REALLY sick in the operating room (vomiting for about 10 minutes immediately after the injection was made), and they punctured the dura, which led to a spinal headache. I am convinced that the spinal medicine leaked out, too, because I felt EVERY stitch as the doctor was stitching my uterus back together - not just tugging, but every single thing, and it was PAINFUL. Because I had the spinal headache, I spent a longer time in the hospital, and I was sent home on just Motrin. But after a blood pressure check on Friday, I asked for something stronger and was given Norco (which I am trying not to take, if I can avoid it, because it makes me SOOOO sleepy) Last night, I noticed that if I put my hands on my abdomen above my scar, I can feel something that feels like a large knot - I know it is the internal sutures in my uterus. But why does it feel so knotted and lumpy? Could that be why I am in so much pain? Has anyone else here felt a knot inside their abdomen after having a C-section?
Re: C-section pain
have you been resting? you need time to recover! i would call your Dr. tomorrow and make him/her aware of what you are feeling.
I had two balls, one the size of a golf ball and the other about the size of a tennis ball, they both went away at about 3-4 weeks, I was in a lot of pain and my Dr. had me take motrin 800mg every 8 hours, which I think helped with the inflammation.
good luck
