C-sections

7 weeks post surgery and

I am having whole body pains. Since the surgery my right side (just over from the incision) had been hurting. I went to the doctor and he said everything looked well. That was 2 weeks pp. I went again at 5 weeks and again, was told everything was fine.

Over the weeks my back had begun to bother me, mainly on my right side, lower back. Two days ago I woke up to what only can be described as full body aches. From my neck to my thighs. I still feel it mainly on my right side but do feel it on my left side.

I had stopped bleeding last week but it started up again two days ago when all this started. I figured it was my period but now it seems to have stopped again. Given, I know periods after birth can be all over the place. It also feels a bit like gas pains but I haven't really been gassier than usual.

Any suggestions on what this could be? Anyone else have experience with this? Any advice on what I can do to help the pain?

TIA!

Re: 7 weeks post surgery and

  • Mentioning your back makes me worry it's side effects from the spinal (I'm assuming you had one? If not, ignore me). I had weird, awful pains around where I had my spinal for a few weeks after my c-section (and occasionally still do if I'm sitting weird). My OB offered to refer me to a neurologist but couldn't do anything himself.

  • I agree with PP, this sounds like side effects from the spinal and not the section itself.  I would call your doc and tell them exactly what you are feeling and you suspect it might be from the spinal and you want a referral to neuro.

I am almost 7 weeks post op and I have no pain anywhere even when I work out.  For you to be having full body aches is definitely not normal.  I hope you get some answers and feel better soon.

  • I too think the pain is from your spinal.  Months after I had DD, I felt pain in my foot and pain in other areas.  I convinced myself that it was from my spinal.  It eventually went away.
