I'm sorry. M has been down to 1 nap for a couple of months now. The bad news is that he didn't really consolidate his 2 naps into 1 longer nap. He just takes one short nap now (30-60 minutes). Boo!
Ugh! I feel your pain. While two naps is a PITA if you want to leave the house, it's also so nice b/c it gives you more down time.
This weekend, neither LO wanted to sleep in the afternoon, so they may be trying to drop a nap. By 5pm, all four of us (the LOs, DH, and I) were all exhausted with three of us nearly in tears b/c of all the whining. They may think they are ready for one nap, but I sure am not ready for it!

before now, sprout "napped" for 1.5-2 hours. twice/day. sometimes he'd quietly play in his crib & then fall asleep, but he'd be in his crib for 2 hours (he yells when he wants out). so this is a big adjustment for me!
he definitely still needs some quiet time, so maybe I'll still try putting him in his crib anyways to see if he'll tolerate that for a 30min or so.
I'm jealous it lasted so long! J dropped his when he moved to the toddler class at daycare (around 1 year). He moved to just one mid-day nap. He still would sometimes take two naps at home on the weekends, but that ended pretty quickly.
I totally sympathize, though--it was so nice to have two breaks in the day! I used to nap during his first nap and then clean and have me-time for the second. Now there's no time for both . . . sad.
I'd love to get two 1.5 hour breaks during the day, but the consolidation into one afternoon nap has definitely made it possible to get more done in a day. I hope that's the case for you too!
I dreaded DD dropping the morning nap. I like to nap when she naps, so I also had to drop the nap.
I will say, though, it ultimately makes life much easier in terms of actually going out and doing stuff. It was so hard to squeeze outings into 1.5 - 2 hour intervals. DDs afternoon nap did not get longer, but stayed at about 1.5 - 2 hours (though sometimes shorter), during which I still nap.

Yeah, I gotta say - the one mega nap has been pretty awesome. It's much easier to budget for one big 2-3 hour chunk of time than two smaller ones, especially when you like getting out and about.
DD dropped hers a few weeks ago. I thought I'd like it, but she can only make it until about 11 or 12 before she needs her nap, so I once again don't have overlapping naps with the kids. She's up and he's down at the moment. Grr.

I guess it's that I feel like we had the perfect situation before. He'd get up at 6:30 & then "nap" from 8:30/9 to 10:30/11 then he'd nap again at 2:30ish for 1.5-2 hrs. Sometimes we could push the afternoon nap to after 3 w/out disaster. We could still do outings, but there were 2 very long breaks to get things done without little helping hands.
I'm sure we'll figure things out, but I'm still mourning the loss of 2hrs of kid-free time!
Ahhhh!!! Oh no!!! I hear ya though, loud and clear. I love being around and playing with my Bambino. But it is nice on my days off to either nap at the same time or use nap time to be productive without interruptions!
And I fear we are also nearing that as well...gaaahh
