Babies: 3 - 6 Months

DD peeing every diaper change

So DD is 5 months and for the past week at every single diaper change she pees the second her diaper comes off. Today she peed, I cleaned her up, changed the cover on her changing pad, and she peed AGAIN! Does anyone else's DD do this? I know boys do this a lot, but I didn't think girls did!!

Re: DD peeing every diaper change

  • Annoying, huh? As I understand, it is the cool air that makes it happen. I have baby rags (cut up an old towel) and keep a piece handy when I pull off DS' diaper. Another thing I'll do is open the diaper up, but not take it off until I get through the 'now seems like a good time to pee' waiting period. My goal is just to not waste a brand new diaper the moment it is on!

BTW, I also use those mini-towels for wipes, spit-up, BM leaking... I hate to say an old, beat up towel is my most useful thing, but they are pretty handy.

  • My DS does this too... and after he pees, he smiles... like he is thinking "HAHAHA, I GOTCHA!!!" Be happy that when she pees it goes onto the changing pad, and not like a fountain hitting me, the carpet, the dog, the couch, the wall, etc... LOL

Ha! This exactly. My favorite incident actually involved some ill-timed projectile poo making a nice arch on the wall.

I use this all the time!  I had my mom bring me a bunch of my old beach towels, because the are so soft.  I cut them up and lay one down a each change.  I use it b/c DS likes to leak a little poo sometimes, and to pat his bum dry before using the A&D cream.  Also use it for spit-up and what ever.  We go through 6 burp clothes a day, and we only have a few cute ones so I save those for when company  comes or we go out.

His three plus my one; we are all excited to welcome a little one!

  • My DD does this from time to time, so I always open up the new diaper and put it under the old one, so when I pull away the dirty diaper there is a clean one right underneath.

We also have these to place atop the changing pad cover. They work great, but I rarely have to change them because they rarely get soiled (because of the aforementioned trick). I also use them for naked time.

  • buy yourself some prefold cloth diapers and use them on the changing table - gerbers should work fine for this situation.  Place one down on the changing table.  Most prefolds will absorb great and you won't have to be constantly changing the cover.  Just remember to wash them before you use them for the first time.
If the house ain't burned down and the baby's fed it was a successful day. Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
