Hi ladies. Obviously, you are hear because you were successful, so I'm hoping to gain a little knowledge from you. I have a feeling I'll only have enough embryos to make it to a 3dt later this week (ER is probably on Wed.), so I was curious to hear your experience. Did you have a 3dt or 5dt, and how many embryos did you transfer. Feel free to add any additional info you think might be worth sharing. TIA!
ETA: Since everyone's circumstances are different, please feel free to add as much other info (per PP below) relevant to your situation as you are comfortable sharing!
Re: IVF ladies: did you have a 3dt or 5dt?
There are so many factors that go into this, along with the day of transfer, but here is my history (not sure of the grading on my first 2):
IVF #1: 3dt of 2 = BFN
FET#1: 5dt of 2 = c/p
IVF #2: 5dt of 2 4AB Blasts = ectopic
FET#2: 5dt of 1 4AB and 1 4BB Blasts = 1 singleton pregnancy
Started TTC 05.08
Me: Stage II endo, borderline high FSH
DH: perfect
1 lap, 5 IUIs = 4 BFNs and 1 c/p
2 IVFs, 2 FETs = 1 BFN, 1 c/p, 1 ectopic and finally a sticky BFP in May 2011!
1 FET in Aug 2013 = BFP!
DH became a double above knee amputee with traumatic brain injury (TBI) - July 2009
TTC - August 2009 DX: Severe MFI & TF due to TBI
DH SA 0 count, started clomid therapy - November 2010
DH SA 0 count, increased clomid dosage - January 2011
DH SA 75 million with 60% motility!! - May 2011
IVF with ICSI ONLY OPTION - May 2011
3dt of 2 Grade A 8&7 cell embryos May 19, 2011
+HPT May 30 2011 -- Memorial Day!
Beta #1 = 34 Beta #2 = 101.8 Beta #3 = 603!
Expecting beautiful Eden Grace February 7, 2012!
I don't believe that God ever tells us "no". he has three options. Yes, not right now, or I have something better in mind. We just have to wait & see.
IVF#1: 5dt of 2 embies. They had not made it to blast when we transferred. BFN
IVF#2: 3dt of 2 8 cell embies. BFP with a singleton. (Did end up having 5 frosties make it to blast this time.... but we also changed a TON about the cycle)
Good luck hun! I actually pushed for a 3dt for mine.
16 eggs retrieved, 14 mature, 11 fertilized.
5dt of 2 embryos - 4AA and 4AB = singleton pregnancy. 4 made it to freeze as blasts.
GL to you!
IVF#1: 5dt of 2 embies = BFN
IVF#2: 3dt of 4 embies = BFP with a singleton
For IVF #2 we added assisted hatching and acupuncture during stims and before and after transfer.
Good luck!
Holy cow! I can't begin to imagine getting that many eggs/embryos! I bet that felt awesome (although probably not so much during stims!). I will probably only have 5-7 mature follicles at ER, which is why I am anticipating a 3dt.
IVF #1: 9/11: ER: 12R, 11M, 10F, No Frosties; 5dt: 2 blasts, 1 morula; DD born 6/3/12
IVF #2: 11/12-12/12: ER: 20R, 20M, 16F, 4 Frosties; 5dt: 3 blasts, DS born 8/9/13
IVF #1 - I had 4 eggs retrieved, 3 fertilized and turned into beautiful blasts. I transferred 2 on day 5 and froze 1 = BFN.
IVF #2 - I had 6 eggs retrieved, 4 mature, 3 fertilized and turned into one good and one poor blast. We transferred both on day 5 along with our frozen from IVF #1 = BFN.
IVF #3 - I had 7 eggs retrieved, 4 mature, 2 fertilized. We did assisted hatching and transferred both on day 2. This is my first cycle to get a positive result (although it is still really really early). This was also the first cycle I did a new immune treatment which may have made the difference. We will never know for sure. But, if you don't have too many embryos to choose from, I don't think the day of transfer makes a difference.
Good luck!

Me= 37 and DH = 41
Dx: DOR, Endo, APA+ (really high beta 2 glycoprotein antibody and high everything else tested), heterozygous MTHFR mutation, positive for lupus anticoagulant, high FSH, low AMH and both tubes blocked (per HSG on 3/8/11)
IVF #1 - long lupron (with HGH, intralipids, lovenox and BA); 4 retrieved, 3 fertilized; ET 2 blasts and 1 frozen = BFN
IVF #2 - a version of antagonist with EPP (with HGH, intralipids, lovenox and BA); 6 retrieved, 4 mature, 3 fertilized, 2 blasts and 1 frozen blast transferred on day 5 = BFN.
IVF #3 April was postponed to May, May was canceled. June/July was canceled. Had a cyst aspiration and then began IVF #3 in August. ER on 8/22; ET on 8/24 with AH. +HPT on 9/5. Beta #1 (11dpo) = 3; Beta #2 (15dpo) = 29; Beta #3 (17dpo) = 60; Beta #4 (19 dpo) = 118. Heartbeat at 6 weeks 6 days =132. Lil is here!
TTC#2: Trigger + TI = BFN; Clomid + Trigger + IUI = BFN.
IVF #4: BCP + MDLF + Lovenox = 7R, 1F = Transferred 1 6-cell embryo on day 3 = BFN
IVF #5: MDLF + Lovenox = 4R, 1F = Transferred 1 10-cell compacting embryo on day 3 = BFN
IVF #6: (New RE): Long Antagonist November 2014 (transferred two 8 cell grade 1 embryos and froze one blast) = BFN
FET#1: BFN
IVF#1- 1 ER did not divide=no transfer
IVF#2- 2 ER, only one mature, did 3dt of that one mature, 8 cell=BFP but had missed miscarriage
IVF#3 -3 ER, 3dt transfer of (2) 8 cells=BFP, 1st u/s on next Monday.
I have DOR and endo
I had 12 mature eggs retrieved, 5 fertilized and ended up with a 3dt. 1 of the 5 expired the day after ER so we transferred the best 2 left. The remaining 2 expired the day after ET so I didn't have any left over to freeze.
Good luck !!!

IVF #1&2: 3dt of 2 embryos = BFN
FET#1: 3dt of 2 embryos = c/p
IVF #3: 3dt of 2 embryos = c/p
IVF #4: 5dt of 2 PGD'd (1 blast, 1 morula) = m/c at 7 weeks
DE cycle: 3dt of 2 embryos = BFP with twins.
For me, it really did not matter when they were transferred. I was able to get pregnant with either a 3d or 5d. (My problem was my egg quality)
Often you don't have a choice on what day they are transferred... My clinic prefers 5dt, but I only had 5 embryos, so they did a 3dt (of 2). I got pg w/one, but had a m/c. We had two make it to freeze on day 5, so we transferred these on an FET and got pg w/twins.
How many to transfer is something that you, your DH and your RE should discuss. Our guideline is no more than babies you want to carry and raise. GL!
5 REs + 3 surgical hysteroscopies for septum/lap + 3 failed IUIs
IVF w/ICSI/AH & acu = BFP!, unexplained spontaneous m/c @ 8w2d (our little girl),
FET w/acu = BFP!, B/G twins!, lost MP @19w, dx w/funneling cervix @20w,
twins nearly lost to IC @21w, saved by rescue cerclage, 17P & 16w of bedrest
Our twins born @36w4d via CS when A came foot first
Thankful for every day
IVF#1: 3dt of 2 (none to freeze)- BFN
IVF#2: 5dt of 2 (4 to freeze)- BFN
FET: 6dt of 1 (all others didnt survive thaw)- BFN
IVF #3 (first fresh cycle with new RE): 5dt of 2 (4 to freeze)- BFP; both stuck
Best of luck to you!
IVF #1 - no eggs fertilized (didn't do ICSI)
IVF #2 - 2dt of 2 embryos (one was 3 cells, one was 4, both grade 1, both with ICSI) BFN
IVF #3 - cancelled due to my body ovulating on its own. (thanks lupron)
IVF #3 - 1 egg fertilized with ICSI, did a 3dt of an 8 cell, grade 1 embryo, and I actually got knocked up! (They also did assisted hatching, which they can only do on a 3dt, which is why they pushed me to 3 day instead of 2)
I have never had any embryos left to even attempt to freeze.
Hope this helps!
IVF #1 - 6 retrieved, 5 mature, 3 fertilized. Transferred 1 grade 1 (best) 9-cell embryo on day 3, froze 1 at blast = BFN
IVF #2 - 12 retrieved, 9 mature, 5 fertilized. Transferred 1 grade 1 hatched blast on day 6, froze 2 = BFP

my RE and clinic were very adamant that neither transfer day was better. it all depends on how your embies progress and what the embryologist sees. i just think sometimes it's easy to get caught up in a 5dt being better, and it really all depends on the circumstances. they wouldn't do 3dt if they didn't work, you know
?
anyway, here is my info. i don't know the grading of any of my embies:
IVF #1 - 3dt of 3 embies (lots of fragmentation, average quality embies - don't know letter grades), ended in c/p
IVF #2 - 3dt of 3 embies (minimal fragmentation, better quality embies; i attribute this to changing a lot of things about my diet and adding lots of supplements), i'm 34w PG with twin girls
good luck!

Off hand I don't remember the exact numbers, but here are the basics:
IVF #1 3DT of 2, both stuck, and so far so good.
