carseat/stroller question.

When did you or when do you plan to stop using your travel system and start putting LO in the stroller?

Re: carseat/stroller question.

  • I have been since about 10 weeks. Ds hates his carseat but loves the stroller, it reclines pretty far back and we have a head support for him. He doesn't like the bob yet though...

  • We have been putting LO in the stroller since about 2 1/2 months or so.  Unless he is sleeping, then we leave him in his carseat and let him sleep.  Otherwise-it's just easier to only have the stroller.  And he has had really good head control since about then.
  • We bought our travel system long before the baby was born, and I never even considered babywearing at that point. Now I wear him whenever I can and we've only used our stroller once on a walk around the neighborhood. I don't foresee us using our stroller again unless we have two kids close in age, I'm already wearing the small one, and the older one is tired of walking. It's a pretty specific scenario, but we'll hold on to the stroller just in case, since we already own it. :/

Oh, but to answer your question, kind of - on that one walk we took when DS was about 3 months with excellent head control, we just used the stroller without the carseat.

  • Thanks ladies! I typically wear her when were out and about, but for places like the zoo, or longer walks with the dogs I'd like to have the stroller option to switch out to. I was hoping people would say their going sans babyseat already because I think she'd enjoy looking around. I just wasnt sure if "they" gave an advised age or not.

  • We are putting E straight into the stroller. We tried it two weekends ago at the state fair for the first time. He loved being able to look around at all the people. Give it a try!

  • I got a stroller that fully reclines and have used it since he was a newborn - but usually only if we're walking from home. For out and about, I'm still using the snap and go or the ergo.

I think you're fine to do what works, as long as the head isn't flopping around.

  • Our stroller can lay flat like a pram - we're also using it like a snap n go (Peg Perego Switch Compact) so we've been using the stroller since he was 4 w.o.  Thinking about sitting him up this week.
  • I installed out infant head-hugger from our car seat into the stroller and it keeps him sitting nice and straight. He was probably 3.5 months or so.

  • I've put her in just the stroller a few times.  I think I'd use that more often, but it's so sunny here.  I like having the car seat snapped in because then she's completely shaded (2 canopies).

  • Since 8 weeks? I take her out of the car seat a lot and put her right into the stroller (did that today at the park.) Is that what you mean?  Otherwise I wear her. But the stroller has been so convenient this summer, especially at the pool :)

Oh, and my DD is really wanting to sit up and look around. I like my Chicco Cortina stroller because of the awesome recline options on it.  I'm glad I stuck with the entire travel system through both kids.  (I almost sold the stroller a year or so ago :)

  • We've been using our Bumbleride Indie without the carseat sine DS was about 2.5 months.  He was 9lb 5 oz, and is a tall boy.  He just didn't look as comfortable in his carseat.  We moved him to the stroller only for our nightly walks and he loves it.  He can kick the foot rest and look all around.  I'd say if your LO had good head control, definitely go for it!

  • I've been since just a few weeks.  I have a stroller that lays almost all the way down and if LO is/was awake she doesn't like being in the carseat more than she has to.
