Anyone gone to Sesame Place?

Thinking of taking DS this fall, but I have heard some mixed reviews...Wondering if anyone went and what you thought of it :) TIA!

Re: Anyone gone to Sesame Place?

  • We went about a month ago with DH's parents.  We planned on going Saturday and Sunday morning, but it was monsooning on Sunday morning so we scratched that idea.

I thought it was perfect for DS.  He is a HUGE Sesame Street fan, so it was all the things he loved.  In the morning, we went on the dry rides (carousel, swings, etc.).  And in the afternoon we did the wet rides.  We also took DS back to the hotel to nap for a couple of hours after lunch.

We also signed up for a Character Lunch which was great!  I didn't see any characters just roaming around the park, so it was really the only opportunity to see them up close.  The food served was decent too.

DS loved one of the stage shows that we saw - something about a treasure hunt.  He really liked seeing the characters and watching them singing.

I'm normally a regular bedtime mom, but we opted to stay for the evening parade and I'm so glad we did.  It was a lot of fun for everyone.

Certainly, its expensive.  But in my opinion, it was worth it to see the excited and happy look on DS's face.

PS - They also have a stellar first aide.  Right before lunch, DS tripped and fell, cutting his lip and chin.  We took him there and we were treated really well.  They checked him out (and gave him the OK) and then gave him a popsicle.  Not something I wanted to visit in the park, but it was helpful.  :)

  • we went twice this year - once in May and only did dry stuff, then once in August and did both wet & dry.

We rented a cabana in August and it was AWESOME to have it - not just doing wet stuff- but just to have a spot to relax, put all our stuff, get away from everything for a bit, etc.  If they had napped we would have gone back there, but nobody napped that day.  They give you 6 bottles of water, a fridge to put stuff in, 6 towels (you get to keep) and the best part- you get to go to the meet & greet before the parade- and see ALL of the characters - it was AWESOME.   The Count also came to the cabanas for a meet & greet, too - kids loved that.

You can do a  meet & greet at the photo area in Elmo's area, if you don't see any walking around the park. We saw a few in the park both times we were there, too.

Our boys LOVE it there - we had a blast. We'll be going again next year. If we lived closer we'd have an annual pass.

You can pack a small cooler and eat your own food there if you want to save money. We packed our own drinks and snacks- but purchased lunch at the Elmo Cafe - it's like $9 for a kid's meal, but you get a take hom cup and plate that are cute and a decent amount of food.

I used to be Goldie_locks_5 but the new nest is so screwed up that I was forced to start over.

  • we were there in June and absolutely loved it!

    DS had a great time.

i felt it was really clean and not too big for my 2.5 year old. he was able to go on pretty much everything and he loved seeing the characters.

    i highly recommend it.

DD loved seeing the characters, loved the shows, enjoyed the parade. we did dinner with elmo. the food wasnt' great, but it was worth it to get close to the characters. we will definitely return next year.
