My daughter just turned 5 months old. She has slept in the rock n sleeper since 1 week old. She falls asleep easily but starts to toss and turn in the middle of the night. I think she is outgrowing it but will not sleep in her crib. I think she likes being elevated. Any tips?
Re: fisher price rock n sleeper
I just got the RnP at my shower yesterday and want to use it in my room for the baby. I was concerned that it wasn't firm and flat enough (like a crib is) for sleeping. It sounds like you guys had a lot of success with it though.
Did you buckle the baby in? Did you put down a blanket or something first in case of leaks? Any other tips for nighttime sleeping?
ceelee-I don't actually use it for night time sleeping. I've had DD in her crib from night one. She sleeps well in there and we get much better sleep at night. I have the monitor on so I can hear her. I figure I'd have to get up and change and feed her in her room anyway, and it's close...so crib it was. I must add that DS was in our room for 8 weeks in a bassinet and the night we moved him to his crib both he and we slept a ton better. That's why DD went right to the crib.
We use the RnP for day time naps and keep it downstairs. For now I don't buckle her in because I'm in the room and she's not moving much, but I will once she starts wiggling more. I swaddle her, so I guess that contains anything, but we have been lucky so far with no leaks.
You can buy a wedge to put under the mattress if your LO likes to be elevated. It's about $15 at BRU. You can try swaddling but I thought it was unsafe to swaddle once baby started rolling over (it's difficult to lift your head off the mattress if your arms are restrained).
Do you have a bedtime routine? DD has been sleeping in her crib since the first night. We give her a bath, lotion, feed her and put her in the crib either asleep or on the verge of sleep with her pacifier. She outgrew the swaddle about three weeks ago.
