Still not rolling....

My Lo will be 4 1/2 months old this weekend yet she does not roll at all or even give us a flinch of a roll to either side..should this concern me? She does tummy time alot throughout the day, anything else I should be doing??? She goes to the doc in a few weeks for a check up perhaps I will let pedi know..

Also how long is the 4 month old wakeful last? We are already on the 2 week and I am exhausted!!!

Re: Still not rolling....

  • K isn't rolling either. If she's not rolling by her 6 month appointment I will request EI.

  • My DD sat at 6 months before she rolled. My ped told me as long as she meets the next milestone, she was fine. She eventually rolled and she is fine =)

  • DS doesn't roll yet either. Our pedi wasn't concerned at his 4month appt this last week. He said by 5 or 6 months it should happen but he's not worried at all.

  • nearly 5 months here and still not rolling. Not even pretending to try.

We have an EI eval tomorrow.

However, some babies just don't roll and that's OK (or they will roll late. or if they have large heads they might roll later) etc etc etc

  • DS is not rolling over yet either. Once during tummy time he did but with my help because I put his elbows close in together, but he doesn't seem like he will any time soon and I'm fine with that.
  • My LO rolled twice last week, for the first time. And I think one of them was more of a tumble/coincidence. I was semi-worried too, but believe me, one day they will just do it out of the blue.

...Plus he's huge for his age so I wonder if he just has to work a little harder at it to move all that bulk. Stick out tongue

My pedi just told me this exact thing today when I mentioned that E wasn't rolling yet (at her 4-month appointment).  She's 90-97th percentile weight and 75-90th % for head circumference.  he said that bigger babies often roll later because there's just too much chub to get moving around.  =)  He told me not to worry at all.

That makes me feel better. Charlotte is a chunky monkey and I kept saying I bet that has something to do with her not rolling yet. It takes more effort! Poor baby - but I love her little rolls.
