I'm so relieved! I just got my results back and they sound great -- 1:5,301 for Down Syndrome and 1:9,301 for Trisomy 13/18 which is a great improvement from my age statistics (35 yr old) of 1:266 and 1:466, respectively. I'm so excited! We are definitely going to skip the CVS and amnio now which were suggested given my age (that whole "advanced materal age" thing). She said my odds put me at a 20 year olds! YAY!
Re: Great NT Scan results!
That is awesome, congrats! I know waiting for that phone call puts you on pins and needles!
I kept meaning to tell you if for some reason you don't get Gaines for your c/s I highly recommend Dr. Anderson. He was awesome, very cool, calm and put me at ease because he was so laid back. I know his bedside manner is a little quirky but I was very impressed with him throughout the whole thing from pre op to post surgery (I got him by chance since I needed a certain date).

Congrats!! I was supposed to get my results today (due 3/21
I am 34 now, but will be 35 when I deliver, so they are suggesting CVS/Amnio as well- I am hoping my results are definitive enough that I don't need to do that.
), but they didn't come in yet

More woman are having babies later in life but I didn't think that changed the risk factors that are associated with age.
Of course not
, but I think that as OBs help more and more women have babies at 35+ that they don't see being 35 in and of itself as a reason to raise a red flag. I never had either of those tests mentioned in any of my offices by OBs or MWs; in fact, I had to specifically request an NT scan at 36 years old last year. But that's why I said I think it's the new 30 and not younger, LOL -- 35 is still 35, just a super low cause for concern. I think they now look to 40 as being more of a cutoff, perhaps? (I'm thinking of friends in different places and the only friends who have mentioned age have been 40+.) Now, being pregnant and not having energy like we used to, well, that's another issue -- it's tiring.
I'm happy for you!!!
