I checked the website, and it says you can check both a carseat and stroller for free - but can you check these things at the gate?
Is gate checking safer for your stuff? We have an expensive stroller, and if there's a chance it will get wrecked, we won't bring it.
Now that I think about it, I doubt B will be in the infant seat by Christmas, and we'll probably have to regular check the car seat - has anyone had issues with this?
Anyone that can tell me your domestic flying experience with LO will be helpful. Thanks!
Re: Anyone flown Westjet with LO?
We are flying Westjet in October.
You can regular check or gate check. I plan to gate check the infant seat and stroller - our infant seat goes to 30 lb and he's only 15, so he'll still be in it for our trip. I do plan to wear him for the flight, but the stroller will help me manage the baggage. I also feel like gate checked stuff gets put on the top of the pile, you know?
I have read advice to just get a clear garbage bag to wrap the seat.
Our flights are short (1-2 hours), so I'm not too worried.

We've just checked everything and had no problems. Westjet will give you a bag for your carseat if you're checking it. You can also get one of these to turn your luggage and carseat in to a stroller. There's a Canadian online retailer here.
Westjet was great with a LO, we love them. Lately we've been flying AirCanada though because they fly out of our local airport. We have to drive 5 hours to the closest Westjet airport, and even if it's cheaper to go Westjet it's priceless not to drive 5 hours with 2 young kids.
Thanks ladies - we're just looking at a short flight at Christmas.
Does the infant get a checked bag as well? I figure DH and I will each need a suitcase, and I'll need a small one for LO as well.
