I don't really take prenatals, but here's what I do do. I take calcium+D in the morning and evening. At lunchtime I take a women's multivitamin, folic acid, DHA, and iron.

I take 2 calcium citrate +D3 in the morning with my prenatal and another 2 in the evening so that my calcium is 800 mgs... Plus I supplement with a yogurt and cereal.. so that my calcium level is at the daily value...
I'm another who takes calcium in the AM and my prenatal in the evening. My mom has severe osteoporosis, and I've seen her suffer many breaks at such a young age due to this office disease. So, I'm not taking any chances.
My OB is having me take calcium and vitamin D in addition to my prenatal. She also recently put me on an iron supplement as my hemoglobin levels are low.
my dr just reco'd it recently. i've been getting bad cramps in my calves and arms. she didn't tell me to spread them out though, so thanks for the advice!!
Re: anyone else taking a calcium supplement with their prenatal?
Calcium also interferes with the body's absorption of iron, so that's another reason to spread them out.

I am also taking an extra calcium pill on top of my materna.. doc recommended that I should also up my Vit. D intake to 2000UI,
Taking Vit D helps your body absorb the calcium, so check with your doc before adding any vitamins to your routine.
