XP- how long on stims and bcps before ER

in Pregnant after IF

af will be here in less than 3 weeks and then i will start bcp for ivf #1. someone just told me that it will be 6 weeks of bcp and lupron before ER? is that right? does everyone use lupron or are there other medication plans?

    I was on follistim, gonadotropin and added ganirilex (sp) for my IVF -- a lot of REs do it differently. AF right before I started my BCPs for my IVF was REALLY late so I was only on my BCP (nuva ring) 2 weeks before I started stims. GL on your up coming cycle! <3

    EDIT:: I forgot to add -- I was on stims a total of 10 days. I started May 6 and my ER was May 16.

    DH became a double above knee amputee with traumatic brain injury (TBI) - July 2009
    TTC - August 2009 DX: Severe MFI & TF due to TBI
    DH SA 0 count, started clomid therapy - November 2010
    DH SA 0 count, increased clomid dosage - January 2011
    DH SA 75 million with 60% motility!! - May 2011
    IVF with ICSI ONLY OPTION - May 2011
    3dt of 2 Grade A 8&7 cell embryos May 19, 2011
    +HPT May 30 2011 -- Memorial Day!

    Im usually a lurker, but wanted to give my answer.

     I was on BCP for 19 days and I did stims for 8 days.  My protocol was Menopur, Ganirelix, Follistim, and Lupron trigger.

    I've done both the long lupron and the antagonist (no protocols). In each case however, I was with a clinic that cycled their patients together so I was probably on BCP longer than the average person just to get my cycle aligned with their cycle.

    DH: perfect
    1 lap, 5 IUIs = 4 BFNs and 1 c/p
    2 IVFs, 2 FETs = 1 BFN, 1 c/p, 1 ectopic and finally a sticky BFP in May 2011!

    I was not on BCP for my fresh cycle, but I was on Lupron for about three wks before ER (including nine days of Gonal F stims).  Typically protocols include something to suppress you before you stim (like Lupron) to prevent over stim, but sometimes not if you have a proven response/ovarian reserve issue.  Best of luck!

    It can be different for everyone based on the individual and their clinic. For me IVF's # 1 and 2, I was with a clinic that batched patients. I was on bcp's and lupron for IVF#1 but for IVF#2 my protocol changed and I didn't do any lupron at all. For IVF#3 I switched clinics. They do not batch patients and also my protocol consisted of no bcp's but I ended up doing 2 weeks though because of a cyst.
    Many failed IUI's (medicated and unmedicated) IVF#1-Micro-dose Lupron protocol: BFN IVF#2-Antagonist Protocol-transferred 1 8-cell grade A embryo: BFP! Missed Miscarriage- D&C 4/2011 IVF#3-Antagonist protocol again but no bcp's: August 2011 DOR, endo and cervical stenosis ER 8/16/11 3 er 3 fert w/icsi ET 8/19/11-assisted hatching- transferred (2) 8 cell embryos! 9/1/11=Beta#1=824 9/6/11=Beta#2=7337
