I always notice that whenever we go to the playground other families arrive, play for 15-30 minutes, then leave. I try to aim for at least an hour each visit, but maybe I'm just a playtime freakazoid. [Poll]
My LO is only 10 months and can't walk yet so our trip is usually the swings and me taking her down the slide and what not so when she's older of course we will be there for a lot longer time!
If I have my sister in laws kids with me it is an hour minimum!
I have never taken C to a play ground for two reasons.
1. Every other weekend this summer, I have taken C to the waterpark for 1-3 hours, because he loves loves loves playing in water
2. My mothers takes care of C four afternoons a week. One of her neighbors spent a shizload on a swing set with slide and a little clubhouse thingee, very nice stuff. That neighbor extended to my mother an open invite to come use their stuff whenever she and C want, so he goes there for a half hour or so on those days.

We don't really go on a regular basis. Once she hit the age she could go often (I would classify that as 7mo+) it was already in the 100's here. Its still in the 100's now. When we do go its in the very early morning like 7am and thats not something we can do every day or even every weekend. Now that it's getting cooler we'll start going more often, I hope.
We max out at 20 minutes. I do the baby swings and then let her play in the sand box or grass. There isn't much for her to do since she isn't walking. Once she's walking I'd imagine it'd be about an hour.
Francesca Pearl is here! Josephine Hope is almost 3!
Since it is getting cooler we will be spending more time there for sure. Right now he tires out at about 20 min. He swings for a few minutes and then plays in the sand. If there is a little league game going on, we might stay for a little longer.
No way we could get through an hour. We spend about 10 on the swing, and another 15 walking around if I'm feeling good. We go twice a day, but we have a tiny apartment.
Yet another thing to judge for? How much time parents spend at the park?
Lets get a ratings system so we can properly judge a parent's love for their child:
20 minutes=bad
40 minutes=decent
60 minutes=good
Oh please. I had a simple observation and just wanted some insight as to what the norm was. There is no way in hell I'm judging something as mundane as playground time.
If we had one within walking distance we might go more often. It's been about once a month maybe? It was a mother effing hot summer too; after about 15 minutes it starts to get miserable.
What do you do for a whole hour at the playground with a baby that can't walk yet?
I'd read to her on a blanket in the grass, put her on the swings, teach her how to slide, describe what's going on, chat with other moms, she'd sit and play with their kids, sometimes she'd nap and I'd just read my own book. Nothing too exciting and I admit, it's a whole lot more fun now that she is walking.
We don't spend much time at the park b/c DS isn't walking yet, like some of the PP's said. But as soon as he does, I am hoping that we can spend more time there.
Instead we do walks for about an hour every day, b/c I am a big believer in fresh air being good for both of us.

Once or twice a week for about a half hour. I'll put him in the swing for 10 or so minutes, hold him while he goes down the slides, play in the grass, and then walk around. He loves being out and watching the older kids run around.

Wait...are you judging her because you think she's judging how much time parents spend at the park? Judgy judgers!
BTW, I took this as a curiosity thing. Like when I ask people about their butt secks habits it's more out of curiosity than for judgement purposes. You know.
We never get to go because it's always hot as balls in FL and I'm usually in class before it cools down in the afternoon Plus, there aren't any on my street since we live in the country so I'm thinking about getting one for our backyard as her bday present since she will probably be walking by then.
Sometimes it's okay to follow. (Picture is a clicky)
We usually only make it about 30 mins for so. He loves getting on the swing and going down the slide. He gets bored since he is not walking. I am sure he will like it more when he can walk!

We are going to the park tomorrow for the first time ever. It's been 187 degrees here every day for the past 4 months. He doesn't walk yet, so I can't imagine we'd go for longer than a half hour or so.
We've only been once. We go for walks and play outside but other than spending a few minutes on the swing there's not much for him to do yet since he doesn't walk. It's just easier to take him out and let him play on a blanket outside than drive to the park for now.

Not taking your kid to the park in 106 degree weather? Awesome

We don't go weekly. All he can really do is swing. Am I missing something here? Is this geared toward moms of older babies?
He'll swing for up to 30 minutes. It's very hot here, so I have to keep that in mind. Parents are not allowed to climb into the playground so I can't go down the slide with him.

Aww, that sucks.
I'm so used to posting on this board that I guess I forgot it's target audience. I'm in denial that my baby is officially a toddler. ::cries::

Once she's up and running around I'll let her have more say in how long we stay.
For now, I can only take L down the slide so many times and clean out so many mouthfuls of grass before I decide it's time to go home.
That said, we'd go even less often if it was farther than a 5 minute walk.
and if you don't go at all...someone will call CPS!!!
