Anyone NOT lose a lot of baby weight?

The baby will be 4 months and I still have so much to lose!  I was a size 4 before, and now am between an 8 and 10.  I gained 40 lbs during my pregnancy and still have about half to go.  I feel like everyone around me has lost it all and I am so upset over this.  I know an 8 or 10 isn't big, just still not what I expected 4 months later.

Re: Anyone NOT lose a lot of baby weight?

  • I also gained about 43 lbs during my pregnancy and I think I still have at least 20 to lose. I havent weighed myself in a few weeks. I feel like I will never fit into my pre pregnancy clothes. I am EBF so I thought that would help but it hasnt seemed to. I am afraid to diet because I am breastfeeding but I could be eating healthier. I do exercise though. I just wish I could fit into my old clothes.

  • I am EBF and all of the baby weight - 35 lbs - dropped off immediately (within 2 weeks)

    BUT...

I got the biggest sweet tooth cravings pp and gained back 10. I am now finally back down, but everything has kind of shifted around, so I'm a bit soft in the tummy. Ab time for me!

FWIW, I have always been a size 10 (at my lowest adult weight). Embrace the curves, sexy mama! :)

  • I have about 20 more to go to get to my prep. weight( I gained while K was in NICU...a lot!) and another 10-15 after that to get to my wedding weight. My goal is to get back into my 10's. Sigh.....

  • Also, give yourself time. Just because you're not back to your norm yet doesn't mean you won't be. It took you 9 months to get that weight on while making a person! That's a lot for a body to be doing, and give yourself a break. If you really want to get down to where you were, you'll probably be able to with time, patience, and work.
  • And OP- you are what....56 weeks pregnant? It will drop off once you have the baby. Wink

  • I am ashamed to say I gained 40 pounds and have only lost 10!!!!!!!!! I started Weight Watchers last week (I am still EBF) and I hope it helps me loose some of this flubber!

  • You are not alone! I was a size 4 and gained 50 pounds and was on bed rest for 5 months of my pregnancy - so it is taking so much to get active again. I did lose 30 lbs right away and then got on depo-provera and gained 20 (ARGH!). I am blaming depo-provera, but am sure a lot of it is just time. My body has totally changed, though. I can't even find the right size that fits me and everything is in a different place. I have been exercising and eating healthy but not seeing that much change as I would have pre-pregnancy. I do keep reminding myself to take time, but it is frustrating when you keep hearing about all these people who "just lost it all right away by just running around taking care of the baby". I think we only hear about those because they are so rare ( or so I keep telling myself). We need to give ourselves a break and give it time.
  • i can't figure out how to change my siggy!  Haha.

I too was on bed rest so I'm sure that didn't help.  I am only 4'11" so the weight seems a lot worse to me I guess being I am short. It only has so much room to go.. lol.

Like pp said, I hear so much from people how you   I will lose it right away so I guess I had different expectations.   Thanks ladies.

  • I gained 32 pounds, most of it in the last trimester.  I'm 5 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight.  But it seems like things have shifted, like my hips are wider.  Plus, I was already 15 pounds heavier than my normal due to undergoing treatment for pre-cancerous growths.

I've discussed it with my OB and Pediatrician, and the consensus seems to be that some EBF women just don't lose all the weight until the baby weans.  I'm hoping that's not the case. For what it's worth, I've been doing Weight Watchers and working out when I can (with a 3 month old, that's sort of hard).

    Good luck!  You're not alone.

  • I am so glad to know I am not the only one!!  I have been walking 3-4 miles a day and doing a 25 minute workout 3-4 times a week.  I have also really been watching what I eat. I haven't even lost enough weight to see a difference.  It's really frustrating...I thought it would come off a lot faster than it has.  Hang in there.  It has to get better!

  • I have 20 pounds to go...just like you I was size 4 and now I'm size 8.

I nurse and pump(3 times a day@ work) so I'm afraid on going in a diet and lose my supply, so for now, no diets for me.

I just have to deal with the extra pounds and I'll be back to tough work outs and dieting when I'm done BF. For now, BF is more important to me. But I do wish I had my body back....can't have it all. :(

  • I'm in the same boat. I gained 45 and lost 20 within the first 2 weeks, but since then nothing! I also EBF, so much for that melting the weight off.

  • Thank goodness!  I thought I was the only one.  What is up with breast feeding and not losing weight?  I gained 40 and only lost 20 so far.  I'm tired of hearing that my weight should have melted off with BF.

  • I know that you're used to being smaller, but an 8 or 10 isn't that bad. I didn't gain a lot from being pregnant, but I gained a lot when I got married. I gained 30lbs. Then I got pregnant and gained only 13 and a half pounds. I lost all the baby weight once she was born, but I still wanna get down to my pre-marriage weight. Just make an exercise plan and stick to it. I didn't after I had my son and kept all the weight. I'm trying not to this time. If your LO likes belly time, put baby on the floor and start with your exercises. Granted it may not seem like much if baby doesn't stay on the floor for long but any little bit will help. Good Luck.
