so i'm nearly seven months pregnant and more than one person has said to me "i didn't know you were pregnant, i just thought you'd gained weight". i have never been overweight in my life before now and i fail to feel anything but insulted by these comments. i am already self conscious about the weight gain because it is so unusual for me. i wish people would think before they speak sometimes especially around a hormone-crazy pregnant lady!! I was just wondering if anyone else had the same experience or any words of wisdom to share

Re: Insulted..
Well you could take it that way - or you could instead think that you are looking pretty awesome and fit for a pregnant lady so that they didn't realize you were actually pregnant .. it's hard not to get upset either way and it's so hard to approach a woman these days and ask if she's pregnant for fear of insult if she's not!
Before I knew I was pregnant I had noticed weight gain and was TOTALLY upset about it.. I had 2 customers asking me if I was pregnant.. I snarkily said that I wasn't - I was just fat... but a couple weeks later - SURPRISE - I was actually pregnant and felt better about the whole thing.
Just remember you are gaining weight for a healthy baby, so don't worry about what they think and try not to be self-concious! I have people telling me every day how beautiful and glowy I look when I feel like a huge whale.. sometimes what we see in the mirror isn't what others see...
Good luck - feel better
I haven't had anyone confused whether I've just gained weight or gained a baby... lately. When I was about 14, though, this old woman came up to me while my 16 year old sister and I were shopping, rubbed my stomach and asked me when I was due... Talk about a self-esteem killer!!
Now I wish people WOULD do that! Actually, that might get annoying... but so do the side-long glances, when I know they're wondering. Wouldn't it be wonderful if you could hand out tact like candy to everyone you meet??
