First Tooth!

It's official!  My LO's first tooth is popping out of his bottom gums.  I, of course, think it's the most adorable thing but I admit I'm partial.  Has anyone else's LOs gotten teeth?  If so, are you doing anything to take care of them?  I feel kind of silly brushing one tooth and am not sure if there's anything else I need to be doing.

Re: First Tooth!

  • you should start brushing ASAP. I have been brushing forever. Use either a wet facecloth, some guaze or a toothbrush (without toothpaste). W had the corner of one pop up, then it went back in. Its been misery in my house.

This is what we thought happened with V.  One of the ladies on the board said that it wasn't actually a tooth in this case, but a calcium deposit (which would look and feel like the corner of a tooth).  That tooth is definitely visible under the gums, but I don't think the gums swallowed the tooth after it made its appearance.

  • Our LO had his bottom 2 pop up at the same time 2 weeks ago.  I bought those little finger tip 'tooth brushes'.  They make it easy to rub his gums and little teeth and are soft when he bites down.  I think his top ones are going to be in soon too!  And I bought some 3-24 month tooth paste and have been using that.
