sleep regression with potty training?

Pottying has gone great...we are on day 6 and no accidents in 3 days.  But the only thing is that now DS has been sleeping really restlessly.  It reminds me of when he was learning to climb and walk.  Maybe it's like a milestone for him in that way.  He just sits up in his crib a few times a night and mumbles to himself, then falls back asleep after a couple minutes.  He wakes up dry for the most part, so I don't know if he is just thinking about it in his sleep or if he has to pee and holds it so he wakes up intermittently?  I don't know, but he sometimes wakes up crabby since he didn't sleep well.  His naps have also been poor quality.  I hope it gets back to normal before long.  I feel bad that he's not sleeping well and he's generally a big-time sleeper so it affects his days.  Anyone experience this in the beginning after PTing?

Re: sleep regression with potty training?

  • I think it's very possible that it's because of the potty training milestone. It's tough to pin restless nights on stuff - my kids have a series of restless night sometimes seemingly for no reason whatsoever - so yea - I think big milestones are a very likely reason for restlessness.  For us last week it was DD#2's first week of preschool - talk about restless/sleepless nights!
Wife, Musician, Fed, WW-er, and Mom of three little kids - not necessarily in that order.

  • oh, I didn't even think about DS starting preschool adding to the sleep issues...you're right!  I guess there's a lot going on for him right now.  Hope your LO gets back to sleeping better again soon too. :)
