Upstate NY Babies

anyone see the drama on the 12-24 board?

I lurk there and I guess a dog bit a little girl in the face and she lost 3 teeth and had a whole bunch of stiches...the dog is quarentined (sp?) for 10 days - in the house...and people are flipping out about getting rid of the dog or not...

I didnt chime in- but I've been there...

anyone else "watching" the drama?

Re: anyone see the drama on the 12-24 board?

  • Oh man, I hadn't see that one. I was watching 9-12 earlier in the week, someone called out LCB (the one with the sick little girl who had the bone marrow transplant) for being nasty. It was pretty bad.

  • Yeah, I lurk on the SAHM mom board, and saw it so I checked it out.  That poor little girl. I could never feel at ease with that dog in my house ever again. I love love love my dog but I love my child 100000x more. Sad all around.
  • OMG that poor girl.

  • Ya, I read the first 2 posts on 12-24.  Not sure if there were other ones.  But it is just awful.  Not entertaining at all like normal drama to me bc I *know* her from way back when we were both on the Pets board.  Way before bump land.  No one loves their dogs more than her and her husband.  She runs a rescue, although the dog in the attack was bought as a puppy from a good breeder....he is actually a show dog in the game arena i believe and they are just so so involved in the training of their dogs.  It is just so shocking.  A lot of times a dog bites when you hear about it on the bump and it is more of a warning snap or bite that just scratches the skin.  Totally scary!  But this sounds like it was much more of a real bite....the dog was not just warning her daughter, it was real.  It is really just so sad for everyone involved.  I hope her daughter heals well and also doesn't have a fear of dogs since that is such a big part of their lives.

  • Are they keeping the dog?  We had a dog, bred and trained as a show dog but fell down the stairs as a puppy and broke a leg so he wasn't fit for showing.  After having him for about 4 years, he flipped one day and pinned my sister to the floor and aggressively growled at her out of no where.  We put him to sleep the very next day.  I think it was both the hardest, yet easiest decision my parents ever had to make.  My sister was heartbroken over it too, but it wasn't a risk my parents were willing to make.
  • They haven't decided yet....right now they are keeping the dog kept seperated in the bedroom and away for their daughter for the 10 days which is what their local AC told them to do.  I don't think that they have even made a decision yet as they are probably just too emotional right now and just spending all their energy on taking care of their dd.
  • Sounds like a scary situation.  I don't get into the drama on the boards though.  What happened to L with your dog?

What happened to L with your dog?

One saturday am DH was feeding the dog and L was near the bowl (which was normal- he liked to pick up the crunchies and feed the ones that fell on the floor to the dog)- he leaned over to pick up a crunchie and the dog lunged at him...

we figured it was a one time thing and since L had just started walking- the dog was trying to show dominence- so we said no more feeding the dog with L around...

well then a couple days later I was making dinner and L was at my leg and the dog charged at him (from the other room)- and knocked him down and tried to pin him- he snapped at him and caught the side of his face with his nails and got the collar of his shirt....

The dog went to live with my BIL that night...

and we wont be having animals while we have babies any longer (and we just might not ever do the animal thing again..)

  • That is so scary! I just went over and read the situation. I am not a huge animal lover, so there is no way that dog would still be in my house but I commend her for just focusing on her daughter and not taking the bait on the board. I hope her baby heals up quickly and is feeling better. And Abba, I am glad L is ok and it wasn't something more serious. It is so scary how quickly things can change esp when animals are involved.

  • I feel horrible for her and wish people would back off. I think it's really easy to say what you'd do and how you'd react when you're not the one living it. It's disgusting how nasty people have been toward her.
