Upstate NY Babies

Vent: s/o my own post

Thanks for all of your voting support! Even if B doesn't win, it IS a super cute page to look at all the cool designs.

I understand it from a business/ad perspective but I hate when pages have a "get the most likes" contest. If I would have known it was like that I wouldn't have entered. #1- I hate "bugging" people #2- the contests are never fair. My motherly opinion aside- not even counting B, the cutest child is not winning that BLB contest so far. There are some suuuuper cute babies with like only 3 or 4 votes. Like earlier this week Kathie Lee and Hoda announced they're doing a "cutest baby contest". The finalists are chosen via facebook votes.  So will it really be a cutest baby contest or just a "mom with the most fb friends" contest?

Gah. I'm crabby.

  • We entered one of these last year with our wedding photographer. I really wanted them to do Belle's one year pictures but at the time wasn't in the budget. The contest was for a free session with them. The couple that won, the husband actually works with them (kinda learning the ropes) but does weddings and has his own page on their website. I thought that was unfair. But it was mainly a popularity contest and I remember having to explain to everyone over and over that you had to like their page and then like our comment.

  • yeah, those contests are so unfair, really. I mean, Brandon is obviously the cutest... but the one that is winning is a crappy cell phone pic. And how cute is that little boy eating the ice cream cone? He's got like no votes. Same w/ the little girl in the tutu.
  • omg totally agree! Before the actual contest started this morning, I went through the pics and thought "okay...ice cream kid has this in the bag", haha!

  • Aaaaaaaaannnnddd...those contests are against FB rules, even though everyone does them. And yeah, it's all about business and getting more fans. But it's hard when you involve kids. If I ever get more serious into a little photography/design biz - I'll probably do one to get my name out there and I'll probably bother all of you about it. It's just what is done and the fastest way to get a bunch of fans. I hate to think that people feelings might get hurt, though - so I hope that isn't the case. If I was the helmet sticker lady - I'd probably just give a prize to ALL the participants after the fact.
  • i agree.  i posted to help a friend b/c her kids were neck and neck with another family for winning free chick fil a for a year.  my cousins girlfriend is trying to become a photographer and she had a contest on her page. i felt so bad that only 5 people submitted photos and then my aunt asked my dad to upload a pic of one of the kids. so he picked a bad pic of sophie and noone voted.  i didn't vote b/c i didn't think it would be fair since she is practically family

i thought about entering sophia in the kathie lee and hoda contest but then realized i had to bug everyone and their mother to vote

  • its totally true.. and I hate those contests, I generally ignore them.. because i hate having random pages that I like..like a random photographer from Kansas showed up in my feed from one of those contests..

BUT.. you WON.. so you won the mom with the most FB friends contest. :)
