Interdelivery Interval: What is yours?

I had a CS in May 2011 due to fetal distress. DH and I want to have at least two children (maybe three) and I want them close in age. My OB recommended waiting TWO years before TTC for a VBAC or waiting ONE year before TTC for a RCS. Most of the studies done show that the recommended interdelivery interval is 18-24 months for a VBAC, and that is the timeframe from one birth to the next birth.

So for you mamas of more than two LO's, how far apart were your births? Did you have a RCS or VBAC? And did your OB recommend any specific time intervals?

Mine will be 15 months apart, and we'll definetly have another cs. Pretty much after DS, my OB told me that I'll probably have to have cs for all my other pg, though I could try for a vbac as long as they were 18 mo apart.

I only have 2 kiddos, but they are 3 years apart. The longer you wait in between, the more healed your uterus, and you're whole body, will be. I was never told to wait a certain amount of time by my MW or anything.

There are 19-1/2 months between DD and DS1 and there will be 18 months between DS1 and DS2. I am having my 3rd c-section. My OB never gave me a time frame, but I was told during my c-section with DD that I wouldn't be a good canidate for VBAC as even though she was only 6lbs 3oz, she wouldn't have fit.

Mine are 27 months apart. Both c/s but was going to try for a VBAC. My doc told me to wait a year.

I think he is just being cautious. If you really want a VBAC I would wait a bit longer to give your body time to heal. I had 2 c-sections 19 months apart. I will have my third in December and between the 2 will be almost 5 years.

I would discuss it with your doctor to see if he feels you are a good candidate for a VBAC.

mine will be 22 months apart, my Dr told me to wait 1 yr before trying again. i am not a candidate for VBAC, it will be repeat c sect.

I got pregnant right before my daughter turned 2, so interdelivery interval was about 2 years, 8 months. I had a VBAC. My OB never gave me any recommendations, but I knew I wanted a VBAC and wanted births to be far enough apart to minimize the risk of uterine rupture.

My boys are just shy of two years apart. My OB gave me the OK at 4 months pp to start trying again if we wanted and that was really just because I asked how long we should wait. He just said you can start now if you want. I had a VBAC attempt and the had no requirement on interdeliveray interval.

My OB told us to wait 1 year to TTC. I had 3 m/c in between my kids who are 25 months apart. My OB never said anything about getting pregnant sooner. She would have let me VBAC if I wanted too. Different physicians say different things.

I'm an L&D nurse, we just had a patient who had her 4th c/s in 4 years...she got pregnant when each baby was 3 months old. They are all 1 year apart. Now, that's a little too close! Her doc was NOT impressed...her insides were a MESS!

Mine will be 21m apart- I have a different OB for this pregnancy than the last but this Doc didnt say anything about waiting to TTC for a future pregnancy- I will always be a c-sec.

We are ttc, dd is 5 months old. Ob said I could get pregnant whenever I wanted, and he recommends a vbac.

My Dr said to wait a year before getting pregnant (which would put a delivery at 21 months apart) if I wanted a VBAC. I just found out I am pg with LO#2 and they will be 3 years apart, so I will attempt a VBAC. I had an unplanned c/s due to fetal distress as well.

Our sons will be just over 27 months apart. OB had no recommendations on timing. I am a good candidate for vbac, but I've opted to RCS.

My OB said 24 months between deliveries for VBAC and 12 months for RCS. We'll be about 11 months and 1 week between them. She said that in her professional opinion there was not significant evidence to wait longer than 12 months between deliveries other than for the mental and emotional health of the mother (other than for a vbac of course)! I'm not a candidate for VBAC anyway so we started ttc right away since DS took 3 years. Surprise...
